Baby has a small hole in the ear

I believe many families have noticed the phenomenon of a small hole in the baby's ear. It looks very inconspicuous, but it may be a congenital preauricular fistula. Because it is a disease, it must be taken seriously and cannot be handled casually by yourself. Improper handling will have very serious consequences. Let’s take a closer look at congenital preauricular fistula.

In fact, this is a relatively common ear disease, which may also be inherited. It is called congenital preauricular fistula. In layman's terms, it means the ear tube is exposed.

Generally speaking, this hole in the ear will not cause any symptoms and does not require treatment. However, sometimes toothpaste-like white pus will flow out of this hole. If you squeeze it a little, more pus will flow out, and the ear will become red, itchy, and even swollen. There is also the possibility of infection and inflammation, causing discomfort to the baby. At this time, you need to go to the hospital for treatment. In severe cases, the ear tube may need to be removed through surgery.

Therefore, if your baby has this hole on his ear, you should be more careful and pay attention to keeping the ear clean.

First of all, when pus flows out of the hole, do not squeeze it directly with your hands. There are too many bacteria on your hands, and squeezing it with your bare hands may cause secondary infection. It is best to gently wipe off the pus with a clean tissue and then wipe it clean with a hot towel. Be careful not to squeeze too hard when rubbing, as this may cause inflammation.

Secondly, when washing your baby's hair, you should also pay attention to cleaning the ears. Remember to clean them once a day to keep the ears clean.

Finally, many mothers like to take their babies to swim in baby pools. This type of swimming pool usually has more bacteria in the water. Mothers can take their babies to swim in a single baby pool. After swimming, they should also pay attention to cleaning the ears, especially in summer, and keep the ears clean at all times.

If the baby does not have any symptoms, adults do not need to worry, and do not take any artificial surgical interventions. Just let it take its course naturally.
