When a child is just born, in addition to having low resistance, he also has certain unusual behaviors. For example, many babies have their arms always bent when they are just born. In fact, this is a relatively normal phenomenon, mainly because the baby's bones are soft. Parents do not need to worry too much about this, but they still need to pay great attention to the daily care of newborns.
When the fetus is delivered, the mucus and amniotic fluid in the oropharynx should be cleared quickly to avoid aspiration and aspiration pneumonia, but do not scrub the mouth because the oral mucosa of the newborn is thin and tender and easily damaged. If "thrush" occurs - a white film with spots or flakes appears on the oral mucosa, you can gently apply nystatin solution. 2. Insulation Immediately after birth, the newborn's entire body should be gently dried and wrapped in a clean, warm cotton blanket. The room temperature cannot be lower than 23℃. The body temperature of the newborn should be maintained at 36~37℃. Measure the baby's temperature every 4 hours on the first day after birth. When the temperature stabilizes at around 36.5℃, it can be changed to every 6 to 12 hours thereafter. If the body temperature is lower than 36℃ or higher than 38℃, the cause should be found and treated. 3. Eye drops Use 0.5% neomycin or 0.25% chloramphenicol eye drops immediately after birth to prevent neonatal ophthalmia. When there is a lot of eye secretion, you can wipe it clean with normal saline or 2% boric acid cotton balls before applying eye drops. 4. Body Position Except when the mother holds the baby for feeding, the newborn baby stays in bed all day. Sufficient sleep time should be ensured, more than 20 hours a day. It is best to lie on your side, especially after feeding, and usually lie on your left side. Changing your body position frequently can prevent your head from tilting when sleeping. Lying on your back is not safe, as this position can cause suffocation if you have milk stagnation. You don't need to use a pillow. If you do, the height of the pillow should be roughly the same as the width of your shoulders. Don't use a hard pillow to correct your head shape. 5. Pay attention to the living environment There are two factors that we should pay special attention to in the living environment: the first is ventilation. The living environment of a newborn requires proper ventilation, while avoiding the through-drafts that occur in traditional houses facing south and north. The second is the noise factor. Pay attention to isolating high-decibel and harsh noises to avoid causing damage to the baby's auditory organs.
Because newborns have poor temperature regulation function, they need to keep warm in winter and prevent heatstroke in summer. They also need to add or remove clothes in time according to changes in temperature. 7. Pay attention to skin care The skin of a newborn is delicate and easily hurt, so you should be gentle when handling it and wear loose, soft clothes. Do not button or use pins. Use warm water to scrub the skin folds, clean them after each urination and defecation, and dry them with a towel. 8. Pay attention to umbilical cord care When the new umbilical cord has not fallen off, scrub the navel once a day with 0.5% polyvinyl alcohol ether iodine solution, then cover it with sterile gauze. Do not put the baby in a basin for bathing. After the umbilical cord falls off, gauze is no longer needed, but the navel must be kept dry and clean. If the navel is found to be red or has purulent secretions, anti-inflammatory treatment should be performed.
Change the newborn's sleeping position frequently to prevent head deformation. 10. Dealing with special physiological phenomena Such as the so-called "milk teeth" of newborns, mucus or bloody secretions in the vagina of baby girls within a few days after birth, red urine, swollen breasts, erythema, pigmentation spots and physiological jaundice (appearing 2-3 days after birth), etc. These will disappear naturally after a few days and do not require special treatment. If the duration is long or there are other adverse reactions, you should go to the hospital for examination. |
