What to do if your child has trouble falling asleep at night

Children are full of energy and often have more energy than their parents. They are often more easily excited and very resistant to sleeping. How to get these naughty children to sleep peacefully is a headache for many parents. Some children are very well behaved and will go to bed on time, but some children have no self-control and will just keep playing without any sense of time. So, are there any techniques to solve the problem of children having difficulty falling asleep at night?

Children who have difficulty in getting into the classroom need the careful assistance of their parents. Most of the time, they can be adjusted. The specific methods are as follows:

1. Develop a bedtime ritual. Have your baby put on pajamas, brush teeth, pee, listen to a story, and then turn off the lights and go to bed every night. After a while, your baby will become familiar with this routine and will know when it's time to go to bed.

2. Parents set the rules. When it comes to bedtime, parents should set strong rules and turn off the lights and go to bed at the right time. The baby may protest and cry, but you must not be soft-hearted, otherwise you will lose your authority over the baby, and things will become more difficult in the future.

3. Eliminate sleep disorders. Some babies feel thirsty, afraid of the dark, lonely, etc. at night, which prevents them from sleeping well. Parents should help their babies solve these troubles in advance, put a cup of warm water at the bedside, turn on the night light, put a favorite plush toy in the baby's bed, etc.

4. Give your baby some choices. When parents set sleeping rules, they can give their babies certain choices. For example, let him decide which pajamas to choose, which blanket to cover himself with, whether to drink milk, and which favorite stuffed toy to choose to sleep with him.

5. Make sleeping more fun. For example, you can arch up the quilt to make it into a "cave" shape and let the baby crawl into it by himself, or crumple the quilt into a ball and tell him that it is a "cloud" and let him climb up by himself. In this way, the baby will be happy to go to bed.

6. Let your baby lie down and listen to stories. Many parents will hold their babies and tell stories or sing songs before going to bed, which may make them more excited. The baby should be allowed to crawl into bed, and the parents should sit by the bed and talk or sing, so that the baby will slowly fall asleep.

7. Teach your baby to take deep breaths. For older babies, you can teach them to take a few deep breaths before going to bed, inhale deeply through the nose and exhale slowly through the mouth. This will help the body calm and relax, and fall asleep peacefully.

8. Plan your nap appropriately. Babies all need a nap, but it should not exceed two hours, and it should be taken as far away from dinner time as possible, so that they have enough time to play before dinner and can easily fall asleep quietly at night because of tiredness.

9. Don’t force him to take a nap during the day. If he doesn’t want to sleep in kindergarten, the teacher won’t coax him, but the bedtime at night remains unchanged.

10. Increase the amount of exercise to consume energy and physical strength. After dinner, increase the amount and duration of outdoor exercise. Do more running and jumping exercises to consume excess energy.

11. Reduce stimulation before going to bed. Avoid strenuous exercise, stimulating games or audio-visuals one hour before going to bed. Read picture books and listen to soothing music half an hour before going to bed.
