Jaundice is a process that newborns must go through after birth. Some babies have mild jaundice that goes away quickly, but some babies have severe jaundice, and may even have pathological jaundice. Most babies have physiological jaundice. When a baby has jaundice, if the jaundice value is relatively high, it may cause brain problems. Many babies suffer from neonatal jaundice, but it is divided into physiological and pathological types. Most babies' jaundice is physiological. Generally, physiological jaundice does not require treatment and will disappear in about half a month.1 Neonatal jaundice value comparison table 1. The normal value of jaundice in full-term newborns is 12.9 mg/dl (milligrams/100 ml), which means that the bilirubin level in 100 ml of blood is normal if it is lower than 12 mg. 2. The normal value of jaundice in premature infants is bilirubin less than 15mg/dl (mg/100ml). Tips: Generally, physiological jaundice will appear in the newborn 2-3 days after birth. You can see with the naked eye that the baby's skin is a little yellow, which is usually more obvious on the face and chest, but the palms and soles of the feet are not yellow. It is most obvious at 4-6 days, disappears at 10-14 days after birth in full-term infants, and may last until the 3rd week in premature infants. During this period, the child was in general good condition and showed no other discomfort.
1. Carefully observe the changes in jaundice. Jaundice starts from the head and fades from the feet. The eyes are the first to turn yellow and the last to fade, so you can start by observing the eyes. If you don't know what to do, experts suggest that you can press any part of the body. As long as the skin you press appears white, it's fine. If it appears yellow, you should be careful. 2. Observe your baby's daily life. If you find that your baby looks increasingly yellow, has poor spirits and appetite, or has an unstable body temperature, is drowsy, or is prone to shrill crying, you should go to the hospital for a check-up. 3. Pay attention to the color of your baby's stool. If there is a problem with the liver or bile duct, the stool will turn white, but it will not turn white suddenly, but will become lighter and lighter. If the stool suddenly turns yellow, you must take it to the doctor.4. Frequent breastfeeding. If it is proved that jaundice is caused by insufficient feeding, the mother must feed the baby frequently, because milk secretion is a normal physiological reaction. Frequent breastfeeding will stimulate the secretion of lactogen and more milk will be secreted. Never think that the baby is not eating enough or that jaundice persists, and supplement it with water or sugar water. |
