Why does my baby have a gurgling throat when he has a fever?

Babies are very susceptible to illness due to their low body resistance. Fever is a very common condition in daily life. Many babies will feel hot all over, dizzy, and have diarrhea when they have a fever. However, some babies have snoring throats when they have a fever. So what is going on when babies have a snoring throat when they have a fever?

Coughing is mainly caused by irritation of secretions in the trachea and is a stress response. Parents can hold their child up with his upper body at a 45-degree angle and pat the child's back. When they feel a violent cough at a certain spot, it indicates that this is where the secretions are accumulated. Patting it several times will loosen the secretions adhering to the trachea and facilitate coughing out. Drink more water and wash your nose with saline solution to keep your nasal cavity clean. Antibiotic treatment is not recommended as it will inhibit the growth of children.

Generally, if a baby has wheezing in the throat, it may be a symptom of asthma or pneumonia. In this case, we also need to see if there are other complications, such as shortness of breath, chest tightness, fever, cough, phlegm, and whether it can be coughed up. In this case, we can make a diagnosis. If the condition is very serious, it is recommended to go to the hospital for examination to find out the specific cause.

As for asthma, it may be caused by bronchial spasm, mucosal edema, and increased secretions, which lead to difficulty in breathing or snoring. Of course, antiviral or nebulization therapy can be used to treat it.

Nursing measures:

1. Sputum removal care

When the baby coughs, the mother will often pat the baby on the back. In fact, this is the prototype of expectorant care.

The specific method is: in the intervals between the child's coughing, let the child lie on his side or hold him up to lie on his side. The parent slightly bends the five fingers of one hand, makes a fist, and gently pats the child's chest, sides and back. Pat your left side and lie on your left side, alternating between the two sides. The force of the slapping should not be too great, and it should be done from top to bottom and from outside to inside, in sequence. Pat each side for at least 3-5 minutes, 2-3 times a day. The back-patting method can not only loosen the phlegm in the child's lungs and bronchi, drain it into the trachea and discharge it, but also promote blood circulation in the heart and lungs, which is beneficial to the absorption of bronchial inflammation and enables early recovery from the disease.

2. Keep warm and avoid cold

If the baby catches a cold, it will aggravate the discomfort in the baby's throat. Because infants and young children have weaker immunity, they are more likely to catch colds and chills than adults, which may lead to respiratory diseases such as tracheitis and bronchitis. Therefore, parents should take good warming measures and not let the baby catch cold.
