What to do if your baby becomes constipated after changing milk

For babies, the most important things are eating, drinking, defecating, urinating and sleeping. Only when these are good, the baby will grow up healthily. If there is a problem with one of them, it will easily cause a chain reaction and a series of problems. Today we are talking about the problem of eating. When the baby grows up day by day and it is time to wean off breast milk or switch to formula milk, due to the immaturity of its digestive system, some babies will suffer from constipation when changing milk. So what should we do? Let's take a look at it together.

If your baby develops constipation symptoms as soon as you change milk powder, it means that this milk powder is not suitable for the baby's spleen and stomach, and this milk powder itself is not particularly suitable for the baby's digestion and absorption. On the other hand, it may be related to the mixing ratio of the parents. At this time, parents can change the mixing ratio of the milk powder and make it a little lighter. Then, for babies who drink formula milk, make sure there is enough water, otherwise it will cause constipation in the baby.

If the baby has enough water and the milk powder is mixed at the right proportion, but the baby's constipation symptoms still do not improve, then this type of milk powder may not be suitable for the baby. In this case, parents are advised to change to another type of milk powder. If constipation occurs after drinking milk powder, it is usually because the baby's intestines cannot absorb some of the large molecular proteins in the milk powder, so the baby will experience constipation or abdominal distension and other adverse symptoms.

If a baby is constipated after switching from breast milk to formula, then when the baby first comes into contact with formula, parents must make the formula a little lighter to allow the baby's intestines to adapt to the change. Once the baby has adapted and there are no adverse reactions, the proportion can be adjusted to the appropriate level. Then, be sure to feed your baby plenty of water. If the baby is older, you can also give the baby some orange juice or honey water.
