How to regulate children's spleen and stomach disharmony

The most common problem for children during their growth process is spleen and stomach disharmony. In fact, disharmony between the spleen and stomach is a disease of the digestive system. Symptoms of spleen and stomach disharmony include children not wanting to eat, and may even have bloating and hiccups. Therefore, many parents will pay attention to it when they find that their children have spleen and stomach problems. So, how to regulate children’s spleen and stomach disharmony?

Why are children prone to various symptoms of spleen and stomach disharmony?

The cause of its occurrence is closely related to the physiological and pathological characteristics of children. The physiological characteristics of children are that their internal organs are delicate and their physical and mental energy are not full. It is a body of "immature yin and immature yang", completely different from that of an adult. From the moment a baby is born, its internal organs are extremely delicate and weak, with poor ability to adapt to the outside world. Their internal organs are in a state of being formed but not complete, and complete but not strong. Among the five internal organs, the spleen and stomach are the most important, because only when food and water are digested and absorbed well can the child develop well and grow strong; therefore, Chinese medicine calls the "spleen and stomach" the "foundation of acquired constitution."

At the same time, the pathological characteristics of children are that they are easy to get sick and easy to spread. If parents lack parenting knowledge, one-sidedly emphasize eating more and nourishing, or do not pay attention to scientific feeding when adding complementary foods; or over-indulge their children and develop bad habits of eating snacks and picky eaters; or drink cold drinks excessively; or indulge in sweets and fatty foods. Moreover, if they do not pay attention to the regulation of the spleen and stomach after becoming ill, and children cannot adjust their diet and do not know how to control themselves, all these reasons can easily cause disharmony between the spleen and stomach, and various symptoms.

Children with spleen and stomach disharmony may show different symptoms. The most common symptoms include anorexia, restless sleep at night, bloating, vomiting, burping, irregular or dry stools or indigestible loose stools. Depending on the different symptoms, you can adjust your daily diet and daily life while applying traditional Chinese medicine treatment, which can achieve twice the result with half the effort.

Once a child shows signs of indigestion, parents should first look for the cause. If it is a young baby, parents should check whether their approach to adding complementary foods is appropriate. If there is a problem, they should adjust it immediately, starting with a single type and gradually adding more varieties, and maintain the addition of a new complementary food for 5-6 days to allow the child to adapt before adding another one. If your child does not show any signs of indigestion, you should do the same when adding complementary foods. However, the maintenance time for each new complementary food can be shortened appropriately, and parents must not rush into it.

If a child has a cold or fever, antibiotics must be used with caution and not on your own. They must be used according to the doctor's orders, and the dosage should not be large or for long periods of time, because many antibiotics have the side effect of digestive tract discomfort. If Chinese medicine is used, care must also be taken, because heat-clearing and detoxifying drugs are generally cool in nature, and should not be taken in excess or for too long, otherwise it will damage the spleen and stomach and lead to spleen and stomach disharmony. Remember to eat a light diet during and after the illness.

If a child develops a digestive system disease such as acute gastroenteritis, it must be cured thoroughly. After the primary disease is cured, be very careful about the child's diet, starting with thin, soft, easily digestible foods and eating hot meals. Every time you eat, you should "lack a bite", which means don't eat "very full". Doing so is beneficial to the recovery of children's spleen and stomach functions.

Children should not eat too many sweets normally, and should not drink cold drinks, popsicles, sweet drinks, or fried foods. Because these can harm the children's delicate spleen and stomach. In clinical practice, many parents bring their children to see a doctor and tell them that their children "love to eat chocolate, love to eat ice cream, love to drink sweet drinks, and do not eat properly every day."

Some parents believe that children must eat more meat so that they can get nutrition. In fact, the human body, especially children's growth and development, requires balanced and comprehensive nutrition. Protein is certainly needed, but the intake of a large amount of vitamins, fiber, and trace elements is also necessary. Therefore, the dietary combination must be scientific and reasonable. Various vegetables, whole grains and fruits are very nutritious and should be consumed in moderation.

Children nowadays generally like to eat meat. If they eat a lot of fatty and sweet meat every day, they will not be able to digest it because their spleen and stomach functions are not yet perfect. This will eventually lead to spleen and stomach disharmony and digestive dysfunction, which will affect the absorption of nutrients and affect their normal growth and development. If you want your child to grow up healthily and avoid indigestion, you must start with scientific feeding and a reasonable diet.

Many children with spleen and stomach disharmony will show restless sleep at night, sometimes crying, rolling and tossing, and some even grinding their teeth. When encountering such problems, parents should check whether the child's bedding is too thick. If it is too hot, the child will not sleep well. Because of anorexia due to spleen and stomach disharmony, some parents like to give their children a bottle of milk before going to bed. In fact, this is not the right choice. Due to the original spleen and stomach disharmony, the digestive function is poor, and the digestive function of the spleen and stomach is also weakened after falling asleep at night, the food eaten will stagnate in the middle-jiao spleen and stomach, and the child will have "stomach disharmony, restless sleep". If there is internal heat, teeth grinding, crying, etc.

For this type of children, parents should pay attention to not having dinner too close to bedtime and not eating before bedtime; at the same time, they should also pay attention to not doing any strenuous activities or getting too excited before bedtime. Parents should also pay attention to touch their child's belly to see if there is bloating. If so, they can use the abdominal massage method, press the palm of your hand on the belly button, and rub it clockwise and counterclockwise 100 times each. This can eliminate abdominal bloating and help children sleep well. Children's sleep time should generally be regular and they should develop good sleeping habits. The above methods can help parents improve or eliminate the situation of "night crying children".
