Adults often snore when they sleep, but two-month-old babies also snore. This is not normal. Some parents think that this is a sign that the baby sleeps well, but it is not. You must pay attention if your baby snores while sleeping, because snoring is caused by obstructed respiratory tract, which may lead to brain deprivation and even affect intellectual development. The main reasons are as follows.
If a baby snores while sleeping, it may be due to laryngeal cartilage dysplasia. This will make the child's sleep noise louder, which will generally be significantly reduced after six months. For some children, it will continue until one and a half years old. At this time, when the child is sleeping, pay attention to not setting the pillow too high, and pay attention to keeping the respiratory tract straight. Also, be especially careful not to let your children catch colds, as the possibility of their respiratory tract being blocked when they have a cold is much greater than for normal children. At the same time, calcium and vitamin D should be supplemented, as this is often caused by calcium deficiency in the mother during pregnancy. 2. Tonsillar hypoplasia When parents find that their baby snores frequently, they should first take the baby to the ENT department to check whether the tonsils are enlarged. One type of enlarged tonsils is physiological and will gradually become smaller as the baby grows. If the snoring is caused by enlarged tonsils, the snoring will gradually decrease as the baby grows older. Tonsils are recognized as immune organs that can resist invasion by bacteria and viruses, so they should not be removed hastily just because of snoring.
If the adenoids are too enlarged and block the posterior nostril, making it difficult for air to enter and exit the nasal cavity, when the baby falls asleep, the gas exhaled from the trachea is forced to exhale from the mouth, and the gas hits the root of the tongue, causing snoring sounds. In addition to congenital adenoid enlargement, adenoids can also become larger when suffering from upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis, etc. 4. Milk congestion in the throat Snoring in a two-month-old baby may also be related to swallowing. Some babies will have milk clots in their throats, which on the one hand makes it difficult for the baby to feed smoothly, and on the other hand makes the airway obstructed, causing the baby to snore while sleeping. If the milk clots are severe and have affected breastfeeding, you only need to drop 1 to 2 drops of saline solution into the nasal cavity to dilute the milk clots.
Snoring when a child is about two months old may be a short-term phenomenon, which may be caused by slight blockage of the child's bronchi by secretions in the respiratory tract. When we hold a baby, we can hear the gurgling sound, just like the "cat's panting" we feel when we hold a kitten and touch its back. Such children are often overweight, and their snoring will naturally decrease when they change their body position, cough, or spit up milk. |
