Why do children have a lot of dandruff?

In the eyes of many people, dandruff seems to exist mostly in adults and children should not have this thing. But in fact, many parents are troubled by the dandruff on their children's heads. It is hard to understand why such a young child has dandruff. The child usually has no pressure and takes a bath frequently. Why does he still have dandruff? So, why do children have a lot of dandruff? Let's take a closer look below.

Theoretically, it is normal for children to have peeling on their heads within 3 months after birth, because the hormones they "inherited" from the mother have not been completely cleared from the body at this time, making it very easy to develop seborrheic eczema, and dandruff will fall off if they scratch with a little force. But from the time children are 3 months old until puberty, they should not have dandruff because their sebum secretion is not abundant.

Experts pointed out that the abnormal conditions of children nowadays can be traced back to two reasons: one is that they eat too much high-sugar and high-fat food, which causes children to develop prematurely, their scalp is too oily and dandruff occurs; the other is that when washing children's hair, alkaline shampoo is used and it may be used too frequently, which will make the scalp too dry and cause dry skin to fall off. From a clinical perspective, the latter situation accounts for a larger proportion.

Therefore, once parents discover that their child has dandruff before puberty, the first thing they should do is go to the hospital to determine the cause. If the problem is too oily, you need to limit the child's diet and make sure to wash it frequently; if the problem is too dry, you can eat more foods rich in vitamins, especially vitamin A and B vitamins, such as peaches, sesame seeds, dates, carrots, green peppers, spinach and fruits, and apply some moisturizing oil on the scalp. Be sure to choose a weak alkaline shampoo, and it is best to use a special children's shampoo.

Parents should have a clear understanding of what causes dandruff in children. Dandruff is generally a normal physiological manifestation for children, but it may also be caused by a disease. If it persists for a long time, it should be taken seriously. It is best to go to a regular hospital for examination in time to find out the specific factors that cause dandruff so that it can be better solved.
