What to do if your child's stool is too hard

The growth process of a baby requires great care. Babies are fragile and may get sick if you don't pay enough attention. The baby's lungs are not fully developed, and the spleen and stomach are also not fully developed, so the baby is likely to suffer from respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases. The baby has a weak spleen and stomach, so he often suffers from diarrhea. But sometimes babies have hard stools.

The baby's dry stool is mostly related to nutritional imbalance. For formula-fed babies, if the formula contains too much protein and fat but insufficient carbohydrates, the protein and fat will combine with calcium to form lumps, making the stool dry and hard. Too little fiber in the food that has been added as complementary food can easily cause dry stools. If the problem is with formula milk, you can change the baby's milk powder. If the fiber intake is too low, you should give the baby more fruits and vegetables.

Drink more water and let your child exercise more to promote intestinal motility. Let your child defecate on time every day so that he or she can develop a good habit of defecation on time. If the anus is torn after defecation, wash it with warm water and apply eye ointment to protect it. You might as well make two kinds of porridge for your baby, which have a laxative effect. A banana and rock sugar porridge. Take three bananas and 100 grams of glutinous rice, add water and cook into porridge, then add rock sugar. Regular consumption can have the effect of moistening bowels and replenishing deficiency. 2. Sweet potato porridge. 500 grams of sweet potatoes. Add 200 grams of rice to water and cook into porridge, then add sugar and eat it warm in the morning and evening. Regular consumption can strengthen the spleen, benefit the stomach and facilitate bowel movements.

What are the signs of baby constipation?

Constipation in infants and young children is a common symptom. It can be divided into two categories according to the different causes of constipation. One category is functional constipation, which is more common and can be cured by adjusting diet, lifestyle, etc.

Another type is constipation caused by congenital intestinal malformations. This type of constipation cannot be cured by general conditioning and must be corrected through surgery to be completely cured. The vast majority of childhood constipation is functional constipation.

When your baby is first born, it is normal for a breastfed baby to breastfeed six to eight times a day. When the baby is one month old, as his digestive function matures, his bowel movements will gradually decrease. At this time, it is normal to have a bowel movement once a day or every other day.

Signs of constipation in babies

● Small, dry stools;

● Difficulty in passing stool and pain during defecation;

● Abdominal distension and pain;

● Loss of appetite.

Whether a baby is constipated cannot be determined solely by the frequency of bowel movements. Instead, it is necessary to make an overall observation of the quality and quantity of the baby's stools, and to see whether it has any impact on the child's health. Each child has different physical conditions, so the normal number of bowel movements per day is also different. For example, a baby who is exclusively breastfed may have more bowel movements per day, while a baby who is fed with milk or other milk substitutes may have a bowel movement once a day or once every 2 to 3 days. As long as the nature and amount are normal and the baby has no other discomfort, it is normal.
