What to do if your hands peel due to scarlet fever

People with scarlet fever are prone to peeling symptoms. Be sure not to tear the skin off with your hands when it is peeling, otherwise it will lead to new infections. Pay attention to dry skin, many rashes will appear all over the body. You need to pay special attention to your diet and must not overeat. Take more nutrition and refuse unhealthy diet. If you peel the skin, your skin will become very good after all the peeling is done. Don't have too much psychological pressure and maintain an optimistic attitude.

First: consider the recovery period of scarlet fever. The rash disappears in the order of rash onset, and starts to peel one week after the rash disappears. The order is the same as the visit. The hands and feet may peel in large flakes. The degree and duration of peeling vary depending on the severity of the rash. The peeling period can last up to 6 weeks. There is no pigmentation, and there is no need to go for a follow-up examination now.

Second: Scarlet fever is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by group A hemolytic streptococci. Its clinical features include fever, pharyngitis, strawberry tongue, diffuse red rash all over the body, and flaky peeling after the rash subsides. A small number of children develop rheumatic fever or acute glomerulonephritis 2 to 3 weeks after the onset of the disease. This disease can occur throughout the year, but is more common in winter and spring.

Third: After the rash subsides, skin desquamation and itching may occur, so keep the skin clean. During the rash period, the child's skin will be itchy. If scratched, secondary infection may occur. Calamine lotion or 75% alcohol can be applied. Avoid wearing flannel or chemical fiber underwear to avoid aggravating the itching. Vaseline or liquid paraffin can be applied during peeling. If there is large area of peeling, it needs to be cut off with scissors. Instruct the child not to peel it off forcibly with hands to avoid skin infection.

When scarlet fever is discovered, the patient should seek timely treatment so that the disease can be recovered as soon as possible. In addition, due to the occurrence of the disease, during the treatment of scarlet fever, there may be shedding in the later stage. This is very common and means that the disease is recovering.

The clinical manifestation of scaly hands caused by scarlet fever is a normal reaction after the scarlet fever is cured. It is not pathological and does not require treatment. Don't worry, it's normal and will get better on its own.

Scarlet fever causes peeling of the hands. General treatment includes bed rest during the acute phase and respiratory isolation. Symptomatic treatment mainly includes physical cooling, vitamin supplementation and maintaining water and electrolyte balance. When pharyngeal symptoms are severe, nebulization can be used to relieve the symptoms. Penicillin is the first choice for pathogen treatment, 800,000 U each time, 2 to 3 times a day, intramuscular injection, for 5 to 7 consecutive days. For septic patients, the dose should be increased to 8 to 20 million U/d, administered intravenously in 2 to 3 doses.
