How to care for scarlet fever

For this kind of recurring disease, you must pay attention to cleanliness and disinfect everything you touch. Bright red rashes may easily appear on the skin, so never scratch them with your hands. The diet must be particularly light, and be aware that some foods will aggravate the condition and should be avoided as much as possible. Be careful of skin infections and always observe your skin, especially peeling skin. Ensure the air is fresh and take out clothes and quilts to dry in the sun frequently.

Scarlet fever is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by Streptococcus pyogenes infection, the main symptom of which is fever. There may also be pharyngitis and a diffuse bright red rash all over the body, with noticeable dandruff when the rash subsides.

1. Pay attention to ventilation and disinfection

The daily necessities of the sick child should be disinfected in time, clothes and bedding should be washed and dried, utensils can be exposed to the sun for at least 30 minutes, and tableware should be boiled and disinfected. Children's snot and mucus should be spit out or transferred to paper and burned. Used dirty handkerchiefs should be boiled in boiling water. In addition, the children's rooms should be ventilated frequently by opening windows, at least 3 times a day, for 15 minutes each time, to keep them clean and the environment quiet.

2. Pay attention to rash and itching

Scarlet fever may be accompanied by symptoms such as rash and itching. Parents should cut the child's nails short to prevent scratching. The child can be given a warm bath or calamine lotion to clean the skin. Scrubbing with soap is prohibited. When large areas of peeling occur, they should be allowed to fall off naturally and paraffin oil can be applied locally.

3. Pay attention to peeling

When skin desquamation occurs, you need to pay attention to the cleanliness of the bed and bedding to prevent dandruff from flying around to avoid cross-infection. When the skin peels off in large areas, trim it with sterilized scissors and do not tear it to avoid skin infection.

4. Pay attention to dietary adjustment

After the onset of scarlet fever, you should eat a light diet and drink plenty of water. Children with the disease should eat high-calorie and high-protein liquid food to replenish the body's energy and fight the virus. Children should eat more foods high in high-quality protein such as milk, soy milk, egg drop soup, and egg custard. They should also be given more lotus root powder, almond tea, lotus seed porridge, malted milk, etc. to supplement calories.

5. Pay attention to dietary restrictions

Children with scarlet fever should avoid eating irritating foods, overly sweet and salty foods, spicy foods, cold drinks, vegetables and fruits with high fiber content, hot fruits and fried foods, otherwise it will irritate the child's throat, increase mucus secretion and aggravate the condition.

6. Pay attention to your surroundings

The room should have curtains and door curtains, preferably red. If red is not available, dark colors are better. All foul, smelly and other unpleasant smells are prohibited. It is strictly forbidden to burn paper and cloth, because such smells can cause the normal measles to disappear, resulting in the disastrous consequence of internal invasion of toxins.
