What are the main causes of night sweats in children?

Some children are born with poor development. They are obviously smaller than children of the same age and are relatively weak. They often suffer from night sweats. In addition, they often cry at night, do not like to eat, and have bad breath. Because of their weak bodies, they are prone to symptoms such as coughing and colds. Therefore, this disease is very harmful. The following are the many causes of this disease.

1. Causes of night sweats in children

There are many reasons for night sweats in children. Generally speaking, they can be summarized into the following two types:

One is physiological night sweats. In childhood, because the skin contains more moisture, has abundant capillaries, has an active metabolism, and the autonomic nervous system regulation function is not yet perfect, it is easy to sweat during activities. If children move too much before going to bed, the body's heat production can increase, or gastrointestinal motility can be enhanced shortly after eating, gastric juice secretion can be increased, and sweat gland secretion can also increase accordingly. These can cause children to sweat more after falling asleep, especially within the first 2 hours of falling asleep. In addition, night sweats are also seen in people who have eaten hot food before going to bed, or cover themselves with too many thick quilts, or the indoor temperature is too high. The above factors can cause the hypothalamic temperature regulation center to send signals, causing sympathetic nerve excitement and leading to sweating all over the body, especially on the trunk and face.

The second is pathological night sweats. Some children sweat mainly in the first half of the night after falling asleep, which is often caused by low blood calcium. Low calcium can easily increase the excitability of the sympathetic nerves, just like opening the small tap of the sweat glands. This situation is particularly common in children with Donglou disease. One thing to note is that night sweats are not a unique symptom of Ju Lou disease. A comprehensive analysis should be conducted, and if necessary, blood calcium, blood phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase and wrist bone X-rays should be checked to determine whether the child has active Ju Lou disease.

2. Treatment Methods

1. Physiological night sweats: Drug treatment is generally not recommended for physiological night sweats. Instead, appropriate measures should be taken to eliminate factors in life that cause high fever. For example, if a child exercises too much before going to bed, or eats a high-calorie meal that causes night sweating, the child's activity level and food intake before going to bed should be controlled. This will also help the child sleep and control obesity, and is beneficial to the child's physical and mental health. Some children sweat profusely at night because the room temperature is too high or the quilt is too thick. The bedroom temperature in winter should be between 24℃ and 28℃; the thickness of the quilt should be increased or decreased with the change of temperature.

Generally speaking, if parents pay attention to the above-mentioned factors that may easily cause increased heat production and overcome them, the chances of night sweats will naturally decrease. Even if children occasionally have one or two severe thieves sweats, there is no need to worry too much. The main loss of body fluids and salts due to night sweats can be fully replenished through a reasonable daily diet.

2. Pathological night sweats can be treated with diet therapy

①. 20 grams of astragalus, 50 grams of polished rice, and appropriate amount of white sugar. Boil the Astragalus membranaceus in water, use the juice to cook rice into porridge, add sugar for seasoning and drink it warm.

Efficacy Tips: Astragalus is sweet and slightly warm in nature. It has the effects of replenishing Qi, raising Yang, consolidating the exterior and stopping sweating.

②. 150 grams of raw Rehmannia root, 1 black-meat chicken, and 100 grams of maltose. Chop the raw Rehmannia root into small pieces, mix it with maltose, put it into the chicken and steam it until cooked.

Efficacy Tips: Raw Rehmannia root is sweet, cold in nature, nourishes yin and cools blood. Black chicken is sweet in taste and neutral in nature. It can replenish deficiency and fatigue, and treat thirst, nausea and abdominal pain. This recipe has the effect of nourishing yin and stopping night sweats.

3. Nursing methods

Whether it is physiological or pathological night sweats, nursing work is very important.

1. After a child has night sweats, you should promptly wipe the skin with a dry towel, change clothes in time, and move briskly to prevent the child from catching a cold.

2. Pay attention to replenish water and salt in time. You can supplement with oral rehydration salts, abbreviated as "ORS", or boiled water with some salt and sugar. Sugar can promote the absorption of water and salt.

3. Bedding should also be dried frequently. The function of sunlight is not only to heat and dry, but also to disinfect and sterilize.

4. In addition, children who are prone to night sweats should undergo planned physical exercise, such as sunbathing, cold water baths, etc., to strengthen their physical fitness and improve their adaptability. Your physical condition will be improved and night sweats will stop, which will be better than any panacea.
