What should I do if my four-month-old baby falls off the bed?

When the baby is about three months old, some parents consider putting the child in a crib, allowing the child to play freely and cultivate the child's independence. There is some truth in doing so. After all, parents cannot follow their children all their lives, and cultivating their independent character from an early age will be very helpful for their future life. So, what should parents do if a four-month-old baby falls off the bed?

1. Cold compress treatment

If your baby falls and hits his head and there is no bleeding but a small swelling, you should immediately apply cold compress to treat it. If the swelling is large or red, you can apply some sesame oil as an emergency measure, or apply moistened potato slices on it, which can help relieve pain and remove blood stasis.

2. Talk to your baby

For a while after the baby falls, try to talk to him and tease him to divert his excitement, and do not hold him while sleeping. If the baby falls asleep soon after crying after falling, wake him up within an hour. If he wakes up crying, then there is no problem.

3. Get plenty of rest

If your baby falls on his head, he should be observed for two days. Try to let him rest more and move less during these two days. If you remain in good spirits and have a normal appetite within two days, you can rest assured.

4. Seek medical attention promptly

If a baby starts crying immediately after falling, the possibility of brain injury is generally low. Babies are most afraid of falling on the back of their heads. If they fall face down, the danger is generally smaller and only external injuries need to be treated.

In addition, when the baby falls on his head, you should go to the hospital immediately in the following situations:

(1) Bleeding trauma on the head;

(2) The baby did not cry after falling, but was not fully conscious, semi-comatose and drowsy;

(3) Within two days after the fall, the patient suffers from repeated vomiting, excessive sleepiness, poor spirits, or severe crying;

(4) Within two days after the fall, bleeding or discharge from the nose or ears, or uneven pupils occur.

Therefore, after the baby falls off the bed, although the mother will feel extremely remorseful, regret and complaints are useless. The important thing is to immediately deal with the baby's condition symptomatically, and learn from it, and always pay attention to the baby's safety in the future.
