The child fell and landed on his head

Children often run around, and if parents are not careful, the baby may run somewhere else and accidentally fall. The most common phenomenon that happens after a baby falls is that the back of the head hits the ground. Hitting the ground with the back of the head is very dangerous. If the head is accidentally hit and bleeds, it is easy to leave some sequelae, or the baby may suffer a concussion. What should you do if your child falls and lands on his head?

If your baby falls and his head hits the ground, it's not a big deal if he doesn't fall. Teach you how to judge whether your baby is okay:

1. Did you cry after falling?

If your baby starts crying after falling, there is little chance of brain injury. If the baby does not cry after falling, and becomes unconscious or comatose, you should go to the hospital.

2. Is there any change in consciousness half an hour after the fall?

Observe whether the baby's consciousness changes within half an hour after the fall. If the baby does not have a headache or vomiting and is conscious after the fall, it means that the collision was minor and there is no problem.

3. Are there any adverse reactions?

If your baby shows symptoms such as incoordination of limb movements, inability to wake up from sleep, vomiting, etc., he should be taken to the hospital for treatment immediately.

Warm reminder: If the back of the head is facing downwards, there is no bleeding, but just a small swelling, the mother can apply a cold towel to reduce the swelling.

What should parents do when their baby falls?

Some parents pick up their babies and comfort them immediately after seeing them fall. This is wrong. After the baby falls, parents should first observe where the baby landed and the approximate location of injury to facilitate follow-up treatment.

In addition to observing the two signals mentioned above, mothers should also check other physical conditions of their babies, such as whether there are bruises or fractures on the limbs, and whether the movements are as flexible as before.

In fact, almost every baby has fallen down. Generally, it is just a minor skin injury, with a little redness and swelling at most. It will go away on its own in two days. Parents don’t need to worry too much. You should know that babies are not as fragile as you think!

If the baby obviously falls slightly, the mother does not need to rush forward to help him up, but encourage him to stand up by himself. This is good for cultivating the baby's independence and ability to resist frustration.
