Two-year-old baby has dry and hard stools

For babies, dry, hard and coarse stools are not a good thing. This may mean that there is a problem in the baby's life and diet. The baby's dry, hard stool is also an important manifestation of constipation. If you want to relieve this symptom, you must first treat the problem of constipation, or adjust it in daily life. Here are some causes and treatments for baby constipation.

1. What is the reason for the two-year-old baby's dry and thick stool?

If a two-year-old child has very dry and hard stools, it is related to constipation. Pay attention to eating lighter foods, and eat more yellow-green, easily digestible vegetables and fruits, and whole grains. This is probably because the constipation is caused by improper diet. If the child's stool is just a little dry and hard, and a little black in color, it is considered constipation, which may be related to the child's usual eating habits. Pay attention to eating more foods with high fiber content.

2. What to do if your two-year-old baby has dry and thick stools

1. Breastfed babies are less likely to suffer from constipation. If this happens, in addition to breastfeeding, add bowel-lubricating complementary foods, such as diluted pear juice, white radish juice, tomato juice, boiled hawthorn or red date juice; for babies over 4 months old, add vegetable puree or fruit puree (banana puree), but honey is not recommended.

2. Babies who are bottle-fed are more prone to constipation, but constipation can be avoided if complementary foods are added appropriately. After constipation, you can add fruit juice (such as tomato juice, orange juice, pineapple juice, jujube juice or water boiled with white radish) to stimulate intestinal peristalsis. If various complementary foods have been added, 600 ml of milk per day is enough, and you can eat more coarse grains, sweet potatoes, vegetables, etc.

3. Training bowel habits: After feeding in the morning, an adult should support the baby with both hands, or let him sit in a basin or a small defecation chair. Do this on time for half a month to develop a habit. Do not change the time at will after developing it.

4. Massage: Use your palm to gently massage the baby's abdomen, and massage clockwise around the baby's belly button. Massage 10 times, rest for 5 minutes, and then massage 10 times. Repeat 3 times to promote intestinal peristalsis and facilitate defecation.

5. Leg flexion and extension exercise: Let the baby lie on his back, grab the baby's legs and do flexion and extension exercise, that is, stretch and flex once, for a total of 10 times, and then flex and extend one leg 10 times.

3. What to eat for dry stools in babies

If your baby has dry stools, you can feed him more melon fruits, such as cucumbers, cantaloupe or bananas, to dissipate the heat in the body. Children who do not like to eat fruits and vegetables can also eat more fungus, seaweed, kelp, dried fruits, etc., which are rich in fiber and minerals. In addition, oatmeal is also rich in dietary fiber.

Correct the diet for constipation caused by unreasonable diet. To soften the stool of bottle-fed babies, you can add tomato juice, orange juice, vegetable juice, etc. to the diet, or add baby honey to warm water and give the baby 60 to 90 ml every day to promote intestinal peristalsis.

If the above method is not effective, you can reduce the amount of milk and increase the amount of weaning foods, such as rice flour, wheat flour, etc. If babies who have already started eating weaning foods are constipated, you can add foods with high fiber content, such as vegetable puree, chopped vegetables, fruits and vegetable porridge. When older babies are constipated, you can give them some coarse grains or sweet potatoes, and eat more crude fiber vegetables such as celery and leeks, and drink more boiled water. Especially after consuming too much high-protein, high-calorie food, they should drink water and eat fruits and vegetables in time.
