What is congenital vascular malformation in children?

There are many congenital diseases nowadays, and congenital vascular malformation is one of them. Most children with this disease have no obvious cause. However, the good news is that with the advancement and development of modern medical technology, this disease can still be treated surgically in a timely manner. Many people may not know about this disease. In fact, congenital vascular malformations in children are like this. Let me introduce it to you below!

Congenital cardiovascular disease is a disease caused by abnormal development of the heart and large blood vessels during the fetal period, and the lesions are already present at birth. It is referred to as CHD. It is the most common type of congenital malformation. The incidence rate is 1.0% among infants who survive birth, about 2.5% among school-age children, and about 10% among hospitalized adult heart disease patients, ranking fourth after coronary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease, and cor pulmonale. Atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, pulmonary valve stenosis, tetralogy of Fallot and endocardial cushion defect are the most common types of congenital heart disease.

95% of patients have no obvious cause, and 5% of patients' mothers have a history of rubella during pregnancy. Some people speculate that the following factors may be related to this disease, but this has not been confirmed. About 5% of congenital heart disease occurs in the same family, and congenital heart disease often coexists with other congenital malformations. As for patent ductus arteriosus, some cases are related to the failure of the ductus arteriosus to close in time due to high altitude hypoxia or lung disease.

For cases with indications for surgical treatment, surgical correction should be performed in a timely manner. The best time for surgery depends on the conditions, generally under 6 years old; but for those with severe conditions and cyanosis, surgery should be performed before school age. For those who are not suitable for surgery or temporarily do not need surgery, regular follow-up should be conducted to actively prevent and treat complications.

This disease is mainly caused by genetic reasons. To prevent it, we should publicize the prohibition of marriage between close relatives, promote eugenics, and pay attention to nutrition and health. You can go to the hospital for examination in the early stages of pregnancy to detect the disease early, and strengthen physical exercise and arrange your life well. With the help of modern medical technology, this disease can definitely be cured.
