Everyone wants their legs to be long and straight, but the shape of a person's legs has a lot to do with congenital genetic factors and acquired habits. Among them, X-shaped legs are a leg shape that many people have. If X-shaped legs are found when the child is very young, there is a certain chance that they can be corrected through correction. However, many parents still hope that their children's X-shaped legs can be restored through the body's self-recovery mechanism. The severity of children's bow legs depends mainly on the degree of deformity. For children of school age, those with mild clinical manifestations are mostly considered to have physiological bow legs and do not require special intervention. More severe bow legs, such as knees colliding with each other when walking, causing pain and loose joint ligaments, require treatment. The choice of correction method is mainly determined by the severity of the deformity. For milder cases, the stress on the plantar surface can be changed through insoles, gradually changing the biomechanical force line, thereby correcting the X-shaped legs. For more serious cases, correction can be achieved through the use of limb prostheses or surgical interventions, such as hemiphysis block and osteotomy. The surgical plan should be selected based on the patient's specific situation and needs. If rickets occurs in infancy, it will cause "X" or "O" shaped legs. This is when treatment is needed. Therefore, under normal circumstances, babies will have mild "O"-shaped legs from birth to one year old. This is caused by inward varus of the knees. Between one and two years old, the knees will gradually turn into outward varus and slowly correct. This is a normal phenomenon. However, if the "O"-shaped legs are too severe, such as inward varus exceeding 15 degrees or has not been corrected after the age of 2, you must see a doctor for examination. If it is caused by calcium deficiency, you can supplement with calcium and cod liver oil, but not in excess. Get more sun exposure and eat more nutritious foods. Correction exercises for X-legs, 1 to 2 times a day: The first section of knee-pressing exercise: Sit upright, put the soles of your feet together, and press down gently on your knees with your hands. Be careful not to separate your feet, and when your knees cannot be pressed any further, stop for a while. The second leg binding exercise: Sit down, lift your legs together, tie your ankles with a cloth strap, and move your feet to the left and right. 3. There are some non-surgical treatments, but they require long-term persistence. You can try: 1. Wear shoes with thicker pads on the inside of the soles. 2. Walk like a cat. 3. Sit cross-legged for 20 to 30 minutes, alternating legs, 1 to 2 times a day. At the same time, massage the inner leg muscles to increase muscle tone to correct the deformity. |
