Pustules on children's heads

Pustules on children's heads

Many children will develop pustules on their heads, especially babies between six months and one year old. These pustules can be called fetal toxins in traditional Chinese medicine and pustular sores in Western medicine. The people who are most distressed and anxious when their baby has a boil on his head are the parents. Especially for new parents, they are at a loss as to what to do when faced with the baby's crying. The following is a brief introduction on what to do if a baby has a boil on his head, as well as common sense in caring for the baby in daily life.

1. What to do if a boil grows on your baby's head?

Impetigo is a common purulent skin disease. Also known as impetigo, commonly known as yellow water sore. It manifests as superficial pustules and pus crusts. It often occurs around the mouth and nose, is contagious through contact, and can be self-inoculated. It is more common in summer and autumn, and is more common in preschool children. Mild cases only require local treatment, cleaning and scab removal. Pay attention to skin cleanliness and treat prickly heat, eczema and other itchy skin diseases in a timely manner.

At the end of every summer, there are always some babies who go to the pediatric department of the hospital because of abscesses on their heads. Some of these babies' abscesses were transmitted from their older brothers and sisters, while others were caused by purulent infection after scratching the prickly heat. Some of these babies may only have a few pus cells, while others may have densely packed pus cells all over their heads. Babies with serious cases may also have fever symptoms.

It is very painful when the pus cells become festered, and the baby often cries incessantly. In order to avoid this situation, it is necessary to do a good job of preventing babies from heatstroke in summer. Once the baby gets prickly heat, the baby's nails should be trimmed regularly and the pillowcase should be changed and washed frequently.

It should be noted that once abscesses are found on the baby's head, even if it is only one, it should be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible. Penicillin is an effective drug for early treatment. If the abscess becomes festering and softens, you need to go to the surgeon to cut it open. After the abscess heals, the lumps in the lymph nodes behind the ears and behind the brain do not need to be treated and will disappear slowly on their own.

2. Precautions

In fact, if you give your baby water and pay attention to hygiene, it will be easier for the baby. Even if there is no abscess on the head, mothers should make preparations in advance, so that the baby can be spared from the torture of abscess. I hope our baby can get rid of this situation as soon as possible. I hope to help all mothers.

3. Nursing knowledge

1. Keep warm. Because newborns have poor ability to regulate body temperature and are easily affected by colds, which may lead to pneumonia, colds and other diseases, it is necessary to maintain an ideal room temperature. Generally, 20-24 degrees Celsius is appropriate. The lower the premature baby's weight, the more attention he needs to pay to keep him warm. You can use a hot water bottle, or if conditions permit, use air conditioning to keep warm.

2. Oral hygiene. The oral mucosa of newborns is tender, rich in blood vessels, and relatively dry. Small yellow-white spots can often be seen on both sides of the midline of the upper palate and on the cutting edge of the gums. This is caused by the accumulation of epithelial cells or swelling of mucous glands. This small dot is called an epithelial bead, commonly known as a horse tooth. Do not pick or rub it. Picking or rubbing it may cause local ulceration at the very least, or sepsis at the worst.

3. Respiratory tract care. The breathing characteristics of newborns are shallow and brisk, with a different rhythm, so the newborn's airway must be kept open. If there is mucus in the nasal cavity, gently wipe it off with sterilized cotton. When you have a cold, it often causes severe nasal congestion, which affects breastfeeding. You can use 0.5% ephedrine solution before breastfeeding, one drop each time. It is strictly forbidden to use adult nasal drops to avoid poisoning.

4. Take a bath. Newborns have an active metabolism, and regular bathing can clean their skin and improve blood circulation. Take a shower, wash your head, face, neck, and then your whole body. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the wrinkles behind the ears, neck, armpits, elbows, groin, etc. Wash the female baby's vulva from front to back to prevent feces around the anus from contaminating the vagina and urethra. After taking a bath, dry your body with a dry towel and apply baby powder on the wrinkles of your skin.
