Two-month-old baby milk intake standard

For babies, daily diet cannot be ignored. Because babies need to eat to meet the nutrients needed for the development of their organs. At two months old, babies can already express their need for food through emotions. However, if the mother breastfeeds blindly, it is easy to cause the baby to overeat. So, how do mothers control the amount of milk they feed their babies during this period?

How much milk should a two-month-old baby eat?

My two-month-old baby is able to eat more than last month, but he is still fed on demand. The daily milk intake of a two-month-old baby is about 600-700 ml, which can be divided into 6-7 times a day, with an interval of 3-4 hours between each feeding, and each feeding is about 80-100 ml. If the baby falls asleep at night, there is generally no need to wake him up to feed him, so as not to affect the baby's sleep quality. It should also be noted that each baby's appetite is different, so it is recommended to feed the baby reasonably based on his or her own living characteristics. Generally speaking, the stomach capacity of a newborn is about 30~35ml, and about 100ml at 3 months. At the same time, the baby's gastric juice secretion is small, and the stomach emptying time varies with the type and nature of the food. The stomach emptying time of a breastfed baby is 2~3 hours, 3~4 hours for milk feeding, and 1~2 hours for water feeding. Mothers should strictly control the amount of milk their babies drink and not give their babies too much or too little nutrition. Just enough milk.

How much milk is normal for a two-month-old baby

A two-month-old baby should be fed 5 to 6 times a day, once every four hours, with 150 to 200 ml of milk each time. The stomach capacity of a newborn baby is very small, about 100 ml at two months, and the amount of gastric juice secretion is small. The gastric emptying time varies with the type and nature of food. For breastfeeding, the gastric emptying time is 2 to 3 hours, for milk feeding it is 3 to 4 hours, and for water it is 1 to 2 hours.

In the first few days after the baby is born, the amount of milk can be calculated based on the baby's weight per kilogram, and 100 to 200 ml should be given per day. Because milk is not easy to digest, it needs to be diluted with water. The ratio can be 4:1, 3:1, 3:2, 2:1, or 1:1. If two parts of milk are mixed with one part of water, it will be 300 (360) ml of milk + 150 (160) ml of water, with a total of 450~480 ml. Divide it into 7~8 doses, with each dose being 60~70 ml. Add 5% sugar to the milk, and increase this proportion at five and six months. From 15 days to one month old, if the digestion is normal, the baby can eat pure milk, nearly 100-150 ml per kilogram of body weight, and about 60-100 ml per meal.

What to do if your two-month-old baby has low milk supply

If the baby is too young, he should be fed small and frequent meals to prevent him from spitting up milk. In order to make your baby grow better, you can choose milk powder that is nutritionally comprehensive, reasonable, easy to digest, easy to absorb, and does not cause irritation to increase your baby's nutrition. Also, if you feed your baby too little each time and too often, it will cause gastrointestinal discomfort to the baby. It usually takes about three hours for the stomach to be completely emptied, so you can feed your baby every three to three and a half hours. If the baby wants to sleep while feeding, the mother can pinch his little ears and little face to wake him up and continue eating. This way, the baby will naturally eat a little more at each meal.
