What to do if your child's butt is red and painful

Many parents now find that their baby's buttocks often turn red and have many small rashes, which makes the baby cry and become very irritable. The redness and pain of the baby's buttocks are common red buttocks, which are mainly caused by long-term erosion by urine and not cleaned in time. In addition to keeping the buttocks dry, it is also necessary to use medicine and change diapers in time.

What to do if your baby has a red butt

The main reason for the baby's red buttocks is that the baby's buttocks are soaked in urine and remain damp for a long time, so the mother should change the diaper herself and expose the baby's buttocks to the air or sunlight more often. Wash it with warm water or 4% boric acid water, dry it, and then apply some vegetable oil. Do not use soap to wash your buttocks.

1. Keep your skin dry

If the temperature or room temperature conditions permit, you can put a diaper under the buttocks to fully expose the buttocks to the air or sunlight, 2-3 times a day, each time for 10-20 minutes. Generally, the red buttocks will recover in 1-2 days.

2. Change diapers in time

For mild diaper rash with only local skin flushing, the buttocks should be kept clean and dry, and wet diapers should be replaced in time. Even disposable diapers should be changed regularly, and cannot be mechanically changed every 8 hours.

3. Apply ointment

If local skin redness is accompanied by a rash, apply disinfected cod liver oil. If the rash is ulcerated, you can use zinc oxide ointment or mercurochrome plus cod liver oil. If there is local skin erosion or epidermal exfoliation, you can apply cod liver oil zinc oxide paste. If there is a secondary bacterial infection, rinse with 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution, blot dry, and then apply 1%-2% gentian violet solution or 0.5% neomycin zinc oxide paste.

When applying oils and ointments, you should place the cotton swab on the skin and roll it gently instead of brushing it up and down to avoid aggravating pain and causing peeling.

4. Wash your baby’s butt frequently

Johnson & Johnson found that newborns are mainly fed with breast milk or formula food, so urine and feces stains contain oils from breast milk or formula, which are difficult to wash off with clean water or wipe clean with a dry towel, leading to diaper rash. Johnson's Baby Delicate Protection Wipes use a unique oil-soluble emulsifier to soften grease, gently remove lipid stains, and better prevent diaper rash. Every time after the child has a bowel movement or changes diapers, wash it with warm water or 4% boric acid water, blot it dry, and then apply some vegetable oil. Do not use soap to wash your buttocks.

It must be noted that when parents clean their children's "red buttocks", they should use their hands dipped in water to clean them gently, instead of wiping the buttocks directly with a towel. After cleaning, they should gently dry them with a towel.
