The dangers of spanking children

Nowadays, many parents often spank their children when they have a disagreement, because they think that there are few nerves on the buttocks and the flesh is thick, so it cannot be damaged by spanking. However, although spanking is not easy to damage the baby, it will have a great impact on the baby's psychology, and the pain in the buttocks will be more severe when spanked, so try not to spank children.

Main hazards

From a physiological point of view, although the buttocks is the part of the human body with the most soft tissue, if the force of the impact exceeds its ability to withstand, especially continuous and repeated impacts, it will cause large-scale soft tissue contusion and bleeding. In severe cases, the effective circulating blood volume will decrease, leading to a drop in blood pressure and the so-called hemorrhagic shock. This causes insufficient blood and oxygen supply to important organs such as the heart, brain, liver, and kidneys, ultimately leading to death. At the same time, this contusion can easily cause acute renal failure and death.

Psychologically, spanking destroys the bond between parent and child that is difficult to re-cultivate, can provoke resistance in children, and can cause children to physically fight back against their parents, especially in adolescents. Spanking is an all-or-nothing technique because its constant reliance on it renders other disciplinary measures ineffective, and spanking becomes the sole or primary solution to the problem. The more children are spanked, the more they tend to spank their own children and spouses as adults.

Some young people develop unhealthy hobbies due to this normal psychological phenomenon, and blindly read non-objective, inaccurate and unhealthy materials on the Internet, which ultimately affects their studies and life.

Method 1: Respect the child’s “sophistry” - Feedback effect

Whenever parents point out their children's mistakes, the children always find many reasons to prove their innocence. At this time, parents will usually angrily call their children’s behavior "quibbling". In fact, this is not quibbling, but a feedback from children to their parents’ education.

Education is a two-way process. Parents should not only teach, but also accept feedback from their children. Only then can education achieve the most perfect results. However, many parents do not realize this. They only care about "teaching" and do not care about the feedback from their children at all. Such education often fails to achieve the goals that parents want.

Method 2: Analyze and respect your child’s feedback

When children give feedback to our education, we should first analyze the feedback. Of course, this analysis is not only about the child’s language, but also about the child’s actions and expressions.

However, it is worth noting for parents that no matter whether the child’s feedback is "sophisticated" or not, they must respect the child’s feedback. In the educational case above, when the child gave the reason "The children in our class said so", the mother did not analyze the child's feedback but yelled at the child. Is this a manifestation of disrespecting the child's feedback? Therefore, this mother does not know the true response of her child—she does not think "you are so stupid" is a dirty word.

It is conceivable that if parents misunderstand their children's feedback and suppress it for a long time, the children will no longer give positive feedback to their mother's education. Without the cooperation of the children, parents will certainly have no way to educate their children.
