Is it appropriate for babies to take probiotics?

Probiotics are actually bacteria that are beneficial to the human body, so sometimes proper supplementation is more beneficial to health, especially for babies, who can also take some probiotics appropriately. However, it should be noted that because the baby's intestines are still in the process of continuous development, if probiotics are not given to him, it may disrupt the balance of intestinal flora, so you should take it under the guidance of a doctor.

1. Although probiotics are bacteria that are beneficial to the human body, in theory there is no problem if you eat too much of them. However, everyone, especially babies, have different physical constitutions, and the human body itself has a certain ability to regulate. Therefore, the baby's probiotic intake should be moderate, and should not be taken in large quantities blindly.

2. Experts say that it is generally not recommended to take probiotics for a long time. The baby's intestines are constantly developing, and a good intestine should regulate the balance of its flora on its own. There is no need to eat probiotics when everything is normal for the baby. Probiotics simply help normalize your baby's system when it's out of balance.

3. When taking antibiotics. Antibiotics, especially broad-spectrum antibiotics, cannot distinguish between harmful bacteria and beneficial bacteria, so when they kill the enemy, they often kill the beneficial bacteria as well. Taking some probiotics at this time or later will play a good role in maintaining the balance of intestinal flora.

4. Children can be given probiotics when they suffer from malnutrition caused by loss of appetite, indigestion, milk intolerance, acute and chronic diarrhea, dry stools and poor absorption function.

5. Babies who are born prematurely, by caesarean section, or who are not breastfed cannot get enough probiotics from their mothers, and the intestinal flora that protects health is not sound. They may experience symptoms such as weak constitution, loss of appetite, and dry stools. They should also supplement with probiotics in appropriate amounts.

6. It can play a preventive role in special moments when immunity is low or needs to be enhanced (such as during an epidemic).
