What is the reason for the white dandruff on the newborn baby’s scalp?

Some parents found that their children had white dandruff-like substances on their heads when they were just born. This made the parents extremely worried, as they didn't know what caused it or how to treat it. In fact, this situation is most likely caused by seborrheic dermatitis and eczema. At this time, you should send the baby to the hospital for medical treatment in time to seek effective treatment to help the baby recover health.

1. It may be seborrheic dermatitis

Consider seborrheic dermatitis, which is related to infection with Pityrosporum. It's not a big problem, don't worry. It is recommended to apply erythromycin ointment during the day and pevisone cream at night. The effect is better when taken with oral calcium zinc gluconate.

2. Caused by eczema

(1) Symptoms of eczema: It starts as small red papules with exudate, and eventually forms scabs and scales. It recurs over and over again and does not heal for a long time. The baby will feel itchy and uncomfortable. It is mainly distributed on the face, forehead, eyebrows, around the auricles, and cheeks. In severe cases, it can spread to the whole body, especially in skin folds, such as the elbows and armpits. Common eczema is most severe in babies aged 2-3 months.

(2) Cause: Eczema is an allergic disease with a genetic tendency, and is more common in infants who are allergic to milk. Babies who are bottle-fed are more likely to suffer from eczema than babies who are breastfed. Response: Generally, if the eczema is not serious, no special treatment is needed. Just make sure to keep the baby's skin clean. Do not use soap or bath gel to wash the baby's face or bathe the baby. Just use clean water to wash it. After the baby is 4 months old, start to gradually add complementary foods to the baby and reduce the intake of milk. Until the baby is completely weaned off milk as the staple food and replaced it with rice, skin eczema will often heal itself without treatment. In terms of medication, parents can let their babies take oral anti-allergic drugs such as chlorpheniramine, vitamin C, etc. under the guidance of a doctor, and at the same time supplement their babies with some calcium supplements. If the baby's eczema is severe, parents can apply boric acid water compress.

3. Guidance:

Babies with eczema may be allergic to certain foods when they grow up, such as fish, shrimp, etc. Parents should pay close attention.
