Children's nails have pits

Nails not only play a role in protecting fingers, but also serve as a barometer of health. Careful observation will reveal that the shape and performance of the nails can determine whether a person is healthy. Therefore, when we go to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor will always look us up and down to see if there are any signs of disease in the body. If the nails are uneven, it is mostly related to lack of nutrition, bacterial infection and insufficient oxygen supply.

Human nails not only protect the fingers, but also serve as a barometer of health. Uneven nails not only affect the appearance, but may also mean a lack of health. Children are in the growth and development period. If their nails become uneven, parents must pay attention to it and help their children find out the cause of the uneven nails to avoid affecting their health and normal physical development.

So what are the reasons that cause children's nails to become uneven?

How should parents help their children prevent and treat it?

1. Lack of nutrition

Factors such as long-term hunger, finger paralysis or immobilization can cause slow nail growth, while iron deficiency anemia and Raynaud's disease, which causes acromial ischemia, can also cause uneven nails.

If children are picky eaters for a long time, not only will their nails become uneven, but their nails will also grow slowly. These potential causes all indicate that lack of nutrition can cause uneven nails.

2 Fungal infection

Failure to pay attention to personal hygiene may lead to bacterial infection, which can cause uneven nails. Children are lively and active, and there is a possibility that they may be infected with fungi through contact with other children at school, which may cause uneven nails. Nails infected with bacteria not only have a dull surface, but also appear thickened and yellow, commonly known as "onychomycosis". Children should be taken to the hospital for examination and treatment in time.

3. Insufficient oxygen supply

Hypoxia can cause the body's arterial oxygen partial pressure to drop, resulting in hypoxia in the peripheral tissue blood circulation, causing nutritional metabolic disorders in the nails and forming nail depressions. Generally speaking, if a child has hypoxemia, it means that the patient's blood does not contain enough oxygen, which leads to insufficient blood supply to the nails, a symptom that causes the nails to not grow healthily. It is recommended that parents take their children to the hospital for examination, diagnosis, and then symptomatic treatment.

4. Prolonged exposure to cold water

When fingers are in contact with cold water for a long time, the peripheral blood vessels will spasm and the nails will be directly immersed in cold water, which will cause poor blood circulation in the nails and make the nails prone to unevenness. Because children are still young and like to play in water by nature, they may be immersed in cold water for a long time. Therefore, long-term stimulation of the uneven nails by cold water can easily cause the nails to become concave. Therefore, when the contact with cold water is reduced, the unevenness of the nails can gradually improve or even heal itself.

5. Exposure to low temperature environment

Coldness can cause blood vessels to constrict, slow blood flow, aggravate peripheral tissue hypoxia, and cause uneven nails. Winter is a season of relatively low temperatures, and children are still in the developmental stage, so their ability to resist the cold is relatively weak. An overly cold environment often leads to insufficient oxygen supply in the body, causing physical discomfort and ultimately uneven nails. Therefore, parents must take measures to keep their children warm in winter.
