Can autism be cured?

Can autism be cured?

Autism is a childhood autism, a subtype of pervasive developmental disorder, which is usually more common in males. The cause of this disease is complex and current medicine cannot completely cure it. Judging from the current research progress, even if autistic patients have recovered well into adulthood, they still have some autistic tendencies. Due to the different ways of interacting with people, they still cannot communicate smoothly with others.

1. It is generally estimated that about 2-5 people out of every 10,000 people are autistic. The incidence of autism varies greatly due to different diagnostic criteria. Later, due to changes in diagnostic criteria and improvements in people's knowledge, the current screening based on the diagnostic criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-Ⅳ) shows that about 4-5 people out of every 10,000 people are autistic. In terms of gender, there are more males than females, with the ratio of male to female being about 4:1, but the symptoms of female patients are more severe than those of male patients.

2. Relevant experts believe that children with autism who have been cured still have differences from normal people in terms of language expression, smile, love expression, sense of humor, ability to learn new things, etc. That is, the so-called return to normal is nothing more than the relief and improvement of symptoms.

3. Autism is a lifelong disease. Only by early detection and early intervention, and taking the right approach, can better treatment results be achieved and allow autistic children to live independently. There is no shortcut to treating autism. The only correct way is for parents and children to work hard on rehabilitation treatment under the guidance of a doctor.
