The baby chews during light sleep and sleeps restlessly

As a mother, I have always been very concerned about my baby's behavior. Recently, BMW Linlin found that her baby chewed during sleep, and the baby's sleep was very light. Why did the baby chew during light sleep? Let's learn about it together.

1. It is generally believed that infants and young children sleep more, but there are large individual differences (12-16 hours). The length of sleep time is related to the baby's physique and the length of sleep time of the parents (genetic factors). Some babies stay awake for a long time during the day, but sleep well at night and do not feel any discomfort. Therefore, no matter how long the sleep time is, as long as the child is in good spirits, has a normal appetite, has no digestive problems, and is gaining weight well. Parents don't have to worry too much. It's best to let your baby decide how much sleep he needs.

2. Many parents of babies think that their babies do not sleep well, their bodies are always moving during sleep, and they may even startle or cry. Doctors in pediatric emergency departments often encounter children who go to the hospital for treatment because of poor sleep and violent crying at night. However, when the babies arrive at the hospital, they are very quiet. Some babies even sleep very soundly, which makes parents laugh and cry. Some parents even take their babies to the hospital, mistakenly believing that their children have rickets. In fact, this uneasy sleep is related to the baby's sleep pattern.

3. Sleep is a physiological process, which, like being awake, is regulated by the activity of the cerebral cortex and subcortical nerves. Sleep is a process of alternating deep and light sleep; on average, one alternation period is 2 to 3 hours, and there are about 3 to 4 cycles of alternating deep and light sleep every night.

4. When alternating between deep and shallow sleep, the baby may experience the following symptoms: although the eyes are closed, the eyeballs can be seen moving rapidly under the eyelids, the eyes are occasionally opened briefly, the limbs and torso have some activities, the face often shows funny expressions, such as smiling and frowning, sometimes there are sucking or chewing movements, the slightest sound can trigger a startle movement, and sometimes the baby suddenly cries. These are all normal phenomena.

In this case, adults should not turn on the lights, coax the baby, or feed the baby. Just pat the baby gently and the baby will quickly fall into deep sleep again.
