What are the causes of sleepwalking in children?

I believe everyone has seen sleepwalking, which is a state of getting up and moving around while sleeping at night. If you don't know, you will feel very scared. Nowadays, work and study pressure is high. Not only adults will sleepwalk, but even children will sleepwalk. In order to detect and treat it early, we will introduce the causes of sleepwalking in children.

1. Developmental factors

It may be related to the immature or delayed development of the cerebral cortex. Clinically, the incidence of nocturnal symptoms may decrease with age.

2. Psychosocial factors

Sleepwalking in some children is related to psychosocial factors. For example, disrupted daily life, environmental pressure, anxiety and fear; family discord, poor parent-child relationship, study stress and poor test scores are all related to the occurrence of sleepwalking.

3. Genetic factors

Investigations show that most sleepwalking patients have a positive family history, and the comorbidity rate of monozygotic twins is 6 times higher than that of dizygotic twins, indicating that the disease is related to genetic factors.

4. Sleeping too deeply

Sleepwalking often occurs in the first 1/3 of deep sleep. Various factors that deepen sleep, such as excessive fatigue during the day, lack of sleep due to staying up late for several consecutive days, and taking sleeping pills before bedtime, can all induce sleepwalking.

The above are the causes of sleepwalking in children. Some sleepwalking is congenital, influenced by the genes of parents, while some sleepwalking is caused by external factors. No matter what the cause is, we should first find the cause and then take appropriate measures for treatment. Only then can the disease be cured as quickly as possible.
