Why do children have precocious puberty?

Generally speaking, children reach sexual maturity between the ages of 12 and 16, but many parents find that their babies are experiencing precocious puberty. So, why do children experience precocious puberty? In fact, this situation has a lot to do with children’s daily diet. In particular, if children consume foods rich in sex hormones, it will cause them to have early menstruation and nocturnal emissions.

Precocious puberty refers to the early onset of puberty, that is, the appearance of gonadal enlargement and secondary sexual characteristics in females before the age of 8, or the appearance of menstruation before the age of 10, and development in males before the age of 9. According to the different pathogenesis, precocious puberty can generally be divided into two categories: gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH)-dependent precocious puberty (true precocious puberty) and non-GnRH-dependent precocious puberty (pseudo-precocious puberty); the former is called central precocious puberty or complete precocious puberty, and the latter is called peripheral precocious puberty. In addition, some scholars classify incomplete precocious puberty, such as simple premature breast development and simple premature pubic hair, as variant types of puberty.

The true cause of many cases of precocious puberty cannot be identified. The formation of precocious puberty is a very complex process and may be related to the entire social environment.

First, improved nutrition. Thanks to social progress, family living conditions have become better, nutrition has improved, diseases have decreased, and children's growth and development have shown an accelerated trend, leading to earlier sexual development and an increase in sexual maturity.

Second, environmental pollution. Industrial pollution is increasing in today's society, and food also contains a large amount of pesticide or hormone pollution. These pollutant residues, after passing through the skin or directly eaten, are a cause of precocious puberty in children.

Third, foods containing hormones. Many poultry meats nowadays contain large amounts of hormones (plant hormones are not absorbed and affected by the human body). Some sex hormones enter the human body indirectly and can cause precocious puberty in children. Both experts pointed out that they do not recommend letting children consume large amounts of highly fried foods, including fast food and barbecue.

Fourth, blindly taking supplements. "Supplements are one of the main causes of precocious puberty in children." Some parents often give their children health supplements that increase appetite, improve intelligence and strengthen the brain. Little do they know that these supplements often contain hormone ingredients. Long-term use can cause the hormone level in children's blood to rise, thus leading to precocious puberty in children.

Fifth, contraceptives and cosmetics cause precocious puberty. Sixth, sexual information. Today's society is an information society with highly developed media. Children can not only get a lot of sexually suggestive images from television, but also be exposed to sexual information from newspapers and the Internet.
