What to do if a newborn has a red birthmark on his head

Most babies will feel a bluish birthmark on their bodies after they are born. This birthmark will hardly affect the baby's appearance. However, many babies will find some red birthmarks on their bodies after they are born, especially on the head. This red birthmark will have a great impact on the baby's appearance, so treatment measures should be taken in time.

It will not bring adverse effects to physical health and development, because the location is hidden, it does not affect the appearance, and no treatment measures are required. Red birthmarks are often seen on the back of the head and face of newborns, especially above the eyelids. They are light red or orange patches. Close observation reveals many tiny blood vessel shadows inside. There are two types of birthmarks, one called orange spot and the other called port-wine stain.

1. Neonatal nevus can be found at birth, appearing as light red spots on the midline of the head and face, such as the eyelids, philtrum, center of the eyebrows, back of the head, etc. The boundary between the facial erythema and the surrounding normal tissue is not very clear, and the area is not very large. The back of the head is relatively larger, darker in color, and has a clearer boundary. The color deepens when the child cries or exerts force, and fades when the child is quiet or sleeping. It can disappear at around 2 years old.

2. Port-wine stains can also be found at birth. Compared with neonatal nevi, port-wine stains are darker in color and have clearer boundaries. With age, the red color may deepen and will not fade throughout life.

3. Strawberry hemangioma. Small red spots appear on the child's head skin shortly after birth. The symptoms are similar to those after mosquito bites. The difference is that the area of the strawberry hemangioma will expand. Insect bites can disappear on their own in a short period of time, but strawberry hemangiomas need to go through a proliferation period and a stable period before they begin to disappear. However, they are usually too large to disappear completely, resulting in cruel sequelae such as atrophic scars and skin wrinkles.

You should pay attention to your eating habits starting three months before pregnancy, and try to reduce the consumption of contaminated food and vegetables, and avoid harmful foods that may damage the development of eggs and sperm. This way you can avoid genetic mutations, red birthmarks and other diseases. Every step during storage, including the process of spraying pesticides, is done. Patients and their families need to maintain a good attitude and actively cooperate with doctors in treatment. Doctors, patients and their families must have sufficient patience and love. Patients should have regular follow-up visits. Doctors should provide individualized treatment based on the specific circumstances of each patient, supplemented by scientific life guidance. Only when both parties fully cooperate can satisfactory results be achieved.

The reason why this red birthmark appears is still closely related to the eating habits of pregnant women during pregnancy. If you start paying attention to your eating habits in the first 3 months of pregnancy, your baby will not have a red birthmark on his head. At this time, you can only undergo some surgery to remove the birthmark on your baby's head.
