What causes ADHD in children?

Children are lively and cute and are likable. People often use "lively and active" to describe children with cheerful and sunny personalities. Being overly active can be described as being naughty. But the word "ADHD" is popular nowadays, and many children have these symptoms to varying degrees. They are full of energy and cannot stop for a moment. Parents are often exhausted when facing their children's hyperactivity. What causes children's ADHD? Once we find out the cause, we can prescribe the right medicine.

The etiology and pathogenesis of this disease are unclear, and it is currently believed to be caused by the interaction of multiple factors. The first is genetic factors. Family studies, twin studies and foster child studies support that genetic factors are an important risk factor for ADHD, with an average heritability of about 76%. The second is the neurotransmitter factor. Neurobiochemistry and psychopharmacology studies have found that there is an imbalance of neurochemical transmitters in the brain, such as low dopamine and norepinephrine function and decreased 5-HT function in the patient's blood and urine. Some scholars have proposed the dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin (5-HT) hypotheses of ADHD, but no hypothesis can fully explain the cause and mechanism of ADHD. The third is family and psychosocial factors. Negative factors such as parental discord, family breakdown, improper parenting methods, bad parental character, mother's depression, father's impulsive, antisocial behavior or substance addiction, family financial difficulties, crowded housing, separation from parents, abuse in childhood, improper education methods in school, etc. may serve as triggers for the disease or the reason for the persistence of symptoms.

There are many reasons why children suffer from ADHD. Parents should be patient when facing their children's hyperactivity. They should try to understand their children's thoughts, enter their children's inner world and find out the reasons. Children are full of curiosity about the outside world, and it is understandable that they are hyperactive. Don't be too harsh on them.
