Why does a child stick out his tongue?

It is very normal for some children to stick out their tongues. Parents don’t need to worry too much, especially for newborn babies. This is mainly because they begin to secrete saliva. At this time, they may feel a little uncomfortable, so they lick it with their tongues. As long as they grow older, the condition will improve and this situation will no longer occur. However, some children suffer from tics.

It is generally normal for babies to stick out their tongues, and parents don't need to worry too much. The salivary glands of newborns usually begin to secrete saliva after two months. At this time, the baby will lick with the tongue, and then stick out the tongue.

After the baby is born, the order of the baby's body movements development follows from beginning to end. At first, the baby uses his mouth to bite, his tongue to lick, etc. to touch and understand the world. Therefore, babies have been sucking since they were born and put things in their mouths at any time, especially their own fingers. The baby feels extremely happy as he sucks, licks and sticks out his tongue to explore the world.

Therefore, parents can rest assured that there is nothing to worry about when the baby shows his ability to explore the world with his mouth. This is the baby's unique way.

Tics are generally divided into two types based on clinical manifestations: motor tics and vocal tics. 1. Vocal tics: In fact, it is a twitch involving the respiratory muscles, pharyngeal muscles, laryngeal muscles, oral muscles, and nasal muscles. When the muscles in these parts contract and twitch, sounds are made, such as simple "oh, oh, ah", etc., or they can be manifested as clearing the throat, coughing, sniffing the nose, spitting, barking, etc.; complex vocal tics are composed of meaningful words, phrases or sentences, and are manifested as involuntary repetition of meaningless words and phrases that are inconsistent with the environment or swearing for no reason. 2. Motor tics: refers to the involuntary, sudden and rapid contraction of the muscles of the face, neck, shoulders, trunk and limbs, which manifests itself in actions such as blinking, frowning, pursing the lips, shrinking the nose, sticking out the tongue, opening the mouth, shaking the head, nodding, stretching the neck, shrugging the shoulders and sticking out the chest.

Parents should make a judgment when their children stick out their tongues. If they feel there are other symptoms, they should take their children to the hospital for examination, because tics can also cause their children to stick out their tongues frequently, and the symptoms may even become more and more serious, eventually causing their hands to twitch constantly. In this case, they should get better treatment in a timely manner.
