What is the problem with the hangnail on the child's hand?

Hangnails are something that everyone is familiar with. It is when some skin suddenly lifts up next to people's nails, and it is accompanied by a period of pain, which makes people feel very uncomfortable. Adults feel very uncomfortable, let alone children. Therefore, many children often cry when they have hangnails, which makes parents very troubled. The reason why hangnails appear has a lot to do with people's health. So do you know what children are missing when they have hangnails on their hands?

Hangnails are medically known as reverse peeling. Under normal circumstances, the nails and skin are tightly connected, without any gaps, forming a natural barrier, but sometimes we see the skin on the fingertip surface near the root of the nail crack, forming a raised triangular flesh thorn, which is a hangnail.

Hangnails are actually superficial skin injuries and are not a big problem. However, the baby may tear it off with his hands out of curiosity or because he feels uncomfortable and inconvenient. This will expose the dermis at the root of the barb and cause secondary bacterial infection. It will not only cause pain and bleeding, but may also lead to paronychia in severe cases.

A baby's hands are always tender, so how could they suddenly grow hangnails? There are three possible reasons:

1. Playful and active. The little ones are becoming more and more lively and active. They often grab toys with their hands, chew their nails, or rub their hands against other objects too much, causing hangnails to grow on their delicate skin.

2. Dry skin. Improper care will cause the baby's hands to have dry skin, and the skin under the nails will not be moisturized by oil, making it easy for hangnails to grow.

3. Nutritional deficiency. If your baby's daily diet lacks vitamin C or other trace elements, it may also show up through the skin.

What is missing when a child has hangnails on his hands? Looking at the above introduction, we have learned that there are many reasons why such conditions occur on children's hands. The main reason is the lack of vitamins and trace elements. Therefore, in addition to helping children cut their nails in daily life, parents should also let their babies drink more water, eat more fruits, and apply non-irritating, oil-containing skin care creams to their hands every day, such as lanolin, vitamin E cream, etc.; if there is a lack of vitamins or trace elements, it is recommended that parents take the baby to the hospital's dermatology department for examination for correct treatment.
