At what age should children start brushing their teeth?

The development of children is very important. During their development, they must be given enough nutrition to ensure healthy development. At the same time, we must also cultivate good living habits for children so that they can maintain good health as they grow up. Teeth are very important to the human body, and the same is true for children. So at what age should children start brushing their teeth? Let’s talk about it below.

When a child reaches the age of 2, you can prepare a set of beautiful toothbrushes for him so that he can gradually learn to brush his teeth by himself, but he still needs adult help in this process. Because children don’t want to brush their teeth by themselves, many of them will stop wanting to do it after a while of trying it out for fun.

First, arouse children's interest in brushing their teeth. When adults are brushing their teeth, you can let the children watch. The children will look at the toothpaste foam in your mouth with curiosity and think it is a very interesting thing. Secondly, you should insist on cleaning your children's teeth every morning and evening, especially before going to bed at night. It should not be ignored.

The water used to wash children's teeth should be cold boiled water or lightly salted boiled water. A little warm water can be used in winter. Let him drink two sips first. If he can rinse his mouth, teach him to rinse a few times before spitting it out. Then soak the sterilized gauze and wrap it around the index finger, and wipe the upper and lower front teeth and left and right side teeth inside and out in order.

Children who are 2 years old or older can learn to brush their teeth by holding a toothbrush and following an adult's demonstration. If they don't brush well, don't force them to do so. Let them learn while playing, and they will gradually master it. In daily conversations with children, we should incorporate life topics into them, give them examples or tell them stories about the benefits of teeth cleaning, so that they can understand the importance of teeth cleaning and like teeth cleaning. Gradually, the habit of daily teeth cleaning will be formed.

Three stages of teeth brushing training for babies

Stage 1: When the baby starts to grow the first tooth, that is, from about 6 months, the baby's teeth should be brushed. Of course, the brushing mentioned here does not require the use of a toothbrush. Instead, parents wrap their index finger with clean gauze and dip it in clean water to help the baby clean the mouth and wash away the attachments on the teeth and gums. This oral care method generally continues until the child is two and a half years old, at which time all the deciduous teeth in the mouth have erupted.

The second stage: Starting from the age of two and a half, parents should choose a toothbrush suitable for this age group for their children. Twice a day, morning and evening, parents should stand behind their children and teach them the correct way to brush their teeth (the brushing method). Because children at this age already have a certain level of understanding and expression, as long as parents guide them patiently from the basics to the advanced, I believe it will not be difficult for children to master the correct way to brush their teeth.

The third stage: From the age of 3, children have completed half a year of transitional training and should be able to complete the brushing action independently. But children at this time are still very naughty and lack initiative and self-awareness. Parents should usually play a supervisory and guiding role to help their children develop good oral hygiene habits so that their children can have healthy and beautiful teeth.

The question of at what age children should start brushing their teeth has been introduced very clearly above. It is very important to cultivate good living habits for children. Only by letting children develop good living habits can they have better physical health in their future life. If good habits are not developed, it will be very detrimental to the child's growth.
