Why do children love to yawn?

Every time I pass by the gate of an elementary school or kindergarten, I always see some children who love to yawn. Although yawning is a human instinct, if a child yawns frequently, then this seems to be a problem. Children's yawning can easily cause them to lose concentration in class and affect their studies. What is the reason why children love to yawn? Let’s learn about it together.

Never place green plants in children’s bedrooms, as they will compete with children for oxygen at night. The child is small and has limited lung capacity, so he is no match for a large pot of green plants. If he stays in the same bedroom with the green plants for a long time, he will probably yawn frequently due to lack of oxygen.

Yawning is an instinctive reaction of human beings. Like heartbeat and breathing, it is not controlled by will. In the neonatal ward of the hospital, nurses often observe the baby's yawning as a physical examination indicator. If a newborn baby yawns frequently, it means that he is gradually adapting to this new world and is regulating himself physiologically.

Yawning helps protect brain cells and increase the oxygen supply to brain cells. It can effectively improve the body's ability to cope with stress. When the human nervous system consumes energy, a large amount of carbon dioxide is produced. Yawning is a way to expel excess carbon dioxide from the body and inhale more oxygen to protect the brain. This is a manifestation of the human body's strong self-regulating ability.

If there is excessive accumulation of carbon dioxide in a child's environment, the child may yawn frequently. What the mother should do at this time is to take the child to another room, or cover him with a warm quilt, and then open the window to keep the indoor and outdoor air circulating.

Some people believe that children's frequent yawning is a sign of sleepiness. They sleep more than 16 hours a day, and although most of the time is light sleep, it does not make them particularly tired. So, unlike adults who yawn because they are sleepy, children's yawns express a different meaning.

A child's yawn lasts about 4 seconds. During these 4 seconds, the child's ears cannot hear any sound and his eyes are probably closed. He completely uses his senses to touch the world. In addition, when yawning, a child's nerves and muscles are completely relaxed.

Therefore, many pediatric experts believe that yawning can allow children to get the best rest both physically and psychologically. On the one hand, it has a certain protective effect; on the other hand, it is also a manifestation of the child’s "psychological hunger". He needs more care from his mother, otherwise he will not be able to completely relax.

Children are different from adults. They yawn not because of lack of sleep, but need to look for other reasons. If a child keeps yawning, you should be extra careful and try to keep him warm to prevent him from catching a cold. When a child yawns, his ears cannot hear any sound. He is completely using his senses to touch the world, which is a kind of psychological and physiological relaxation for him. Therefore, never disturb your child when he yawns.

Children's yawning may be caused by the external environment, and parents should pay attention to this. If there are too many green plants in large pots in the child's daily living environment, they should be removed in time. Of course, children’s yawning may be caused by certain diseases, which requires timely diagnosis and treatment to solve. Parents must deal with this in a timely manner.
