When does a child stop growing taller?

In this era where long-legged guys are popular, height seems to have become a hot topic again. Especially for boys, in an era when high heels are everywhere in the streets and people with a height of less than 175 cm are considered third-class disabled, the pressure can be imagined. Parents are anxious for the happiness of the next generation! When do children stop growing taller? What should we do if our child does not grow taller than normal at his/her age?

A person's height is influenced by a combination of genetic genes and the acquired environment. There are two periods of rapid growth in height: one is during birth, from 0 to 2 years old; the other is puberty, from about 13 to 15 years old for males and about 11 to 13 years old for females. The human body grows taller mainly due to the continuous growth of epiphyseal cartilage at both ends of long bones. Regular physical exercise can improve the blood supply to the epiphyseal cartilage at both ends of long bones, enhance the growth ability of bone cells, and to a certain extent delay the disappearance of epiphyseal cartilage and prolong the height growth period. At the same time, moderate exercise can improve sleep quality and promote the secretion of growth hormone. Especially in spring, doing more outdoor sports and getting more exposure to sunlight can convert 7-deoxycholesterol in human skin into vitamin D, which is beneficial for calcium absorption and promotes height development. Choose appropriate activities according to the child's interests and actual conditions, especially jumping and stretching activities, such as jogging, high jump, long jump, throwing, hanging and other physical activities, and ball games such as basketball, volleyball, football, badminton and other ball games. Avoid performing endurance and static exercises that are weight-bearing, intense, overly strenuous, long-duration, or require breath holding too early, such as weightlifting, wrestling, long-distance running, and other strength-based or overloaded anaerobic exercises. If you want to grow taller, you should eat more protein, especially foods containing "amino acids", such as: flour, wheat germ, beans, shrimp, crabs, shellfish, seaweed, beef, chicken, liver, pork leg, eggs, milk, cheese and dark vegetables. On the contrary, foods such as white rice, glutinous rice, and desserts should be avoided as much as possible. Instead of worrying about unrealistic questions like when your children will stop growing, it’s better to pay more attention to their diet on a daily basis.

"When will my child stop growing taller?" Faced with such a question, not only parents should worry, but children should also pay attention to it at all times. Although height is largely determined by nature, you can still change your height through acquired efforts and should not leave it alone. If you are not tall enough, you can try to change this situation through acquired efforts.
