What are the symptoms of precocious puberty in children?

Nowadays, more and more children are prone to precocious puberty. As the name suggests, precocious puberty means that the second characteristic appears early. Moreover, precocious puberty has a huge impact on children. Some children begin to change their voices at an early age, while others begin to develop breasts. So, what are the specific symptoms of precocious puberty? Let me explain them to you in detail.

[Precocious puberty in girls] Girls develop secondary sexual characteristics before the age of 10, with accelerated height growth and pelvic development; hard nodes, swelling and pain under the breasts; enlargement, bulge and coloration of the areola and breasts; coloration of the genitals and armpits and the appearance of long, lighter-pigmented hair; increased secretions from the genitals; and increased subcutaneous fat.

[Precocious puberty in boys] Boys develop secondary sexual characteristics before the age of 12: enlargement and pigmentation of the testicles and scrotum; growth of long, thin, light-colored hair in the armpits, upper lip, and pubic area; voice change and the appearance of an Adam's apple; accelerated height growth; pigmentation and enlargement of the areola; and hard nodules and swelling and pain in the nipples.

Normal sexual development has certain rules. During puberty, due to the increase in sex hormone secretion, females first develop breasts, followed by the development of pubic hair and external genitalia, and finally the menarche and the appearance of axillary hair. The whole process takes 1.5-6 years, with an average of 4 years. For males, the first thing is the increase in testicular volume. When it exceeds 3ml (or diameter >2.5cm), it marks the beginning of puberty. Then the scrotal skin becomes red and thinner, the penis grows and thickens, and then pubic hair and vaginal hair appear. The voice becomes deeper, a beard appears, and the body assumes a masculine appearance.

When your child shows signs of precocious puberty, parents must not ignore it, nor should they panic too much, because excessive panic will bring great pressure to the child. The most correct way to treat precocious puberty is to go to a regular hospital for treatment. Develop a treatment plan under the guidance of your doctor.
