What is the cause of retinal hemorrhage in children?

There may be many reasons for retinal hemorrhage in children, and it cannot be simply treated with medication. After examination, the cause of the retinal hemorrhage must be determined before deciding how to treat it. Retinal hemorrhage is not an ordinary disease. Since there is bleeding, of course we need to pay attention to it. If we don’t just apply medicine on the child and call it a day, what if it causes other symptoms? So, what is going on when we find retinal hemorrhage in children?

Due to the different causes and locations of fundus hemorrhage, the prognosis and impact on vision are also different. A small amount of bleeding on the optic disc and retina can be completely absorbed and will not affect vision. If the bleeding is located in the macula or involves the macula or the amount of bleeding is large, the blood enters the vitreous body, vision will be seriously damaged and the prognosis will be poor. Therefore, if you find fundus hemorrhage, you must go to the hospital for a careful examination to confirm what the disease is so that you can receive symptomatic treatment.

The causes of retinal hemorrhage can be divided into two categories: systemic and local. Systemic diseases include diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, nephrotic retinopathy, toxic retinopathy of pregnancy, and even blood system diseases and autoimmune diseases can cause retinal hemorrhage. Local lesions refer to lesions of the fundus itself. Such as central or branch retinal vein occlusion, retinal vasculitis, retinal choroiditis, retinal hemangioma, retinal neurovasculitis, as well as choroidal neovascularization lesions such as age-related macular degeneration, high myopia fundus lesions, and central retinal choroiditis.

To prevent bleeding, you should use your eyes moderately, do not read books, newspapers or watch TV for a long time. It is recommended to take a 2-3 minute break after watching for 40 minutes. Do not be overly excited, tired, agitated or angry, and maintain good and sufficient sleep. In addition, you should smoke less, drink less, eat less irritating food, and avoid drinking strong tea or coffee.

Eyes are very important to each of us. If there is a problem with our eyes, it will cause great problems in our lives. Especially when children are still very young, if you find retinal hemorrhage in children, you must pay attention to it, as it is related to the children's future vision problems. It cannot be handled carelessly. If you are not careful, the child's retinal hemorrhage may be made worse.
