Why do children often catch colds and have fevers?

Many children have poor constitutions when they are young and are prone to catching colds and fevers. Parents are always very anxious as to why their children always catch colds and fevers. Do they have any serious diseases? When children have colds and fevers, how should parents best deal with them? These are all questions that parents have. Today, the editor will answer them one by one.

The normal body temperature of a baby is between 36.5 and 37.5 degrees. If you think your baby has a fever, you should take his temperature immediately!

Babies are prone to crying when they have a fever. Using a thermometer with a pacifier is the easiest way to measure a baby's temperature and it is also the most comfortable way for the baby. Place the pacifier in your baby's mouth for about 3 minutes to allow the thermometer to warm. Press the switch button to turn on the thermometer and keep the pacifier in the baby's mouth until a prompt sound is heard. The baby's body temperature will be displayed on the screen.

If your baby has just had a hot or cold drink, the pacifier thermometer may not be accurate. At this time, you can use a digital thermometer to measure the temperature.

Depending on the baby's condition, mothers can choose to use rectal temperature measurement, which is more accurate. Turn on the thermometer, lubricate the tip with water-soluble paste, and spread your baby's buttocks apart with one hand. Use your other hand to gently slide the tip of the thermometer no more than 12 mm into the rectum. The thermometer will make a sound to indicate that it is inserted properly. Then take out the thermometer and read the degree.

Generally speaking, if the baby's body temperature does not exceed 38.5 degrees, we do not recommend taking antipyretics. You can feed the baby more water to increase the baby's urine volume and promote the excretion of toxins in the baby's body.

The above methods are measures to be taken when the child's fever is relatively low. First of all, physical cooling should be used. However, if the child's fever is relatively high, it is recommended that the child go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time. Otherwise, there is a high possibility that the fever may have meningitis, which is a very dangerous disease. Parents should pay attention to it.
