What should we do if children’s teeth are not aligned?

In daily life, we often find that many children have very neat baby teeth, but after their teeth change, we find that the teeth in their mouths are not aligned properly. This may be related to the fact that they were not able to develop good habits during the tooth change period. Therefore, children must pay attention during the tooth change period. Below, the editor will introduce some matters concerning children's uneven tooth replacement and some precautions during the tooth replacement period.

To prevent children from having uneven teeth, you should pay attention to the following issues:

1. Pay attention to jaw exercises to strengthen children's chewing function

The alveolar bone, like the bones and muscles in other parts of the body, also needs exercise to grow and widen to accommodate all the teeth. But now many parents, out of concern for their children, always choose fine and soft food, and cut large pieces of fruit into small pieces or squeeze juice before giving them to their children. This is actually harming the children.

Dentists recommend: Children between the ages of two and a half and 12 are in a critical period of jaw development. They should eat more foods that require biting or are durable to chew, and large pieces of fruit should not be cut into pieces to promote jaw growth. In daily life, children should be fed more hard and wear-resistant foods, such as spare ribs, beef jerky, sesame cakes, rice crusts, dried steamed buns, apples, etc.

2. Pay attention to bad oral habits

Bad oral habits refer to the habits of children who still involuntarily bite their lips, suck their fingers, bite pens, bite their nails, chew on one side, etc. after the age of 3. Mouth breathing caused by rhinitis or tonsillitis should not be ignored and should not be taken lightly.

Different bad habits can cause different dental and jaw deformities, but if bad habits are eliminated early or simple corrections are performed, the child's teeth and jaws can usually return to normal. However, if medical treatment is not sought in time, the deformity will be greatly aggravated and it will be difficult to achieve satisfactory results.

3. Deciduous tooth caries also need timely treatment

In addition to chewing food, deciduous teeth also have an important function of maintaining the space needed for tooth replacement. If caries of deciduous teeth are not treated, they often fall out prematurely, which we call premature loss of deciduous teeth. This causes the sixth-anniversary teeth to move forward, the length of the front part of the dental arch to shorten, and there is not enough space for permanent teeth to erupt, resulting in crowded dentition. Also, if the deciduous teeth do not fall out for a long time, which we call retained deciduous teeth, it can cause the permanent teeth to be embedded in the bone and unable to erupt or to erupt from the side, and they also need to be extracted as soon as possible.

Therefore, during the period of tooth replacement, you must maintain oral hygiene, brush your teeth every morning and evening, and rinse your mouth in time before and after meals to minimize oral bacteria. If you have the habit of drinking milk at night, it is best to rinse your mouth after drinking to avoid bacteria growth due to milk stains staying in the mouth for a long time.
