What's wrong with the child's crooked mouth?

A child's crooked mouth often looks like a disease that can be said to be shocking. In general, it is often due to facial paralysis, which will further cause the child to have strange facial symptoms. Moreover, in the case of a crooked mouth, it is often caused by facial paralysis. So what’s going on with the child’s crooked mouth?

1. General care

During the acute phase, you should rest adequately and keep your face warm. You can wear a mask when going out, and stay away from the window when sleeping to avoid catching a cold. Be careful not to wash your face with cold water, avoid direct exposure to cold wind, pay attention to weather changes, and add clothes in time to prevent colds.

2. Local care

During the acute stage of facial paralysis, apply a hot and wet towel to the affected side of the face with a water temperature of 50-60 degrees, 3-4 times a day, each time for 15-20 minutes, and massage the affected side by yourself in the morning and evening. The massage should be gentle, moderate, continuous, steady, and accurate. Patients can practice self-expression movements in front of the mirror: frowning, closing eyes, whistling, showing teeth, etc., 2-3 times a day, each time for 3-10 minutes.

3. Nutritional support

The diet should be nutritious, choose easily digestible food, refrain from smoking and drinking, and avoid eating irritating food.

4. Drug application

Take medications as directed by your doctor. For example, if you are taking prednisone, you must strictly follow the doctor's orders and do not increase or decrease the dosage at will. Pay attention to observe whether there are any side effects such as gastrointestinal problems. Avoid traumatic and irritating treatments during this period to reduce damage to the muscles and nerves on the affected side. If a pharyngeal infection occurs, oral antibiotics should be taken as prescribed by the doctor.

5. Eye care

Because the eyelids do not close completely or cannot close, the blinking action and corneal reflex disappear, and the cornea is exposed for a long time, it is easy to cause intraocular infection and damage the cornea. Therefore, reduce eye movements. Wear eye masks or tinted glasses when sleeping or going out, and apply antibiotic eye drops and eye ointment to protect the cornea and prevent eye infection.

6. Oral care

After eating, rinse your mouth promptly to remove food debris between the cheek teeth on the affected side.

7. Psychological care

Most patients suffer from sudden onset of the disease, and inevitably feel nervous, anxious, and fearful. Some are ashamed to see people because of fear of facial changes, and that poor treatment will leave sequelae. According to the patients' psychological characteristics, we must patiently explain and comfort them, relieve their nervousness, stabilize their emotions, and put their bodies and minds in the best condition to receive treatment and care, so as to improve the treatment effect.

Generally speaking, it is recommended that people with facial paralysis seek further treatment with acupuncture. Moreover, patients at this time can often be treated with traditional Chinese medicine. And it is necessary to actively treat with neurotrophic drugs.
