Fever standards and treatment recommendations for young children

The standards and treatment suggestions for children's fever. I would like to introduce it to all parents. Children are very easy to catch a cold and have a fever. Many parents know this. So do you know how many degrees are considered fever for children? I would like to give you a detailed introduction. We are most concerned about the health of our children, so let's take a look!

1. Children often have fever before the age of three. Mothers start to worry when they have a fever. So mothers need to fully understand the common sense of children's fever.

First of all, you need to know the normal body temperature reference value of your baby:

Oral temperature range: 36.7℃~37.7℃

Axillary temperature ranges from 36.0°C to 37.4°C

Rectal temperature range is between 36.9℃~37.9℃

Generally speaking, if the baby's axillary temperature exceeds 37.5℃, it means that the baby has a fever.

2. Fever index:

The axillary temperature exceeds 37.4°C, and the temperature fluctuates by more than 1°C during the day.

Low fever 37.5℃~38℃

Moderate fever 38.1~39℃

High fever 39.1~40℃

Hyperthermia is 41°C or above

A fever lasting more than two weeks is considered long-term fever.

When the child's temperature is below 38.5℃, you don't need to take antipyretics. It's better to drink more water and pay close attention to changes in the condition, or use physical cooling methods.

If the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, you can take antipyretics. Commonly used antipyretics include paracetamol, Tylenol for children, and Motrin, but it is best to use them under the guidance of a pediatrician.

3. What to do if your newborn has a fever

1. Fever caused by environmental factors: Appropriately lower the ambient temperature (the suitable room temperature for newborn babies is 22-25℃), loosen the quilt or add more water, and the baby's body temperature can return to normal.

2. Fever caused by disease factors: It is best for parents to send the baby to the hospital for examination in time. During transfer, the baby does not need to be wrapped too tightly and can use a cold water bag as a pillow on the head. When the body temperature exceeds 39℃, you can first give a warm water bath or warm water sponge bath at home. The water temperature should be 33℃-35℃, and the sponge bathing areas should be the forehead, limbs, groin and armpits. Avoid using alcohol for bathing to prevent the body temperature from dropping sharply, even below 35℃, which will cause adverse effects.

This is the end of the introduction of the standards and treatment recommendations for children's fever! We must know enough so that it is best for our children. We also need to know how to deal with our children's fever. In many cases, we need to understand it well so that it is best for our children's health. So the editor here hopes that your children are healthy!
