What is the reason for the newborn to nod and breathe?

Every newborn is the hope and joy of the family, but raising a child is not an easy task. Especially when the child is young, many problems arise. Some newborns nod their heads to breathe, which troubles many new parents and they don’t know what to do. So what is the matter with newborns nodding their heads to breathe? Everyone is curious about this question. Here I will introduce this issue to you and hope it can help you.

What is the reason for a newborn baby to nod and breathe?

The reasons for nodding breathing in newborns are generally neonatal wet lungs (inhalation of water), neonatal respiratory distress syndrome due to insufficient active synthesis on the lung surface causing the lungs to not inflate (more common in premature infants); and neonatal pneumonia. If you have wet lungs, just nourish the water and let it absorb slowly. Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome can be treated by supplementing exogenous pulmonary surfactant; as the baby grows older, the amount synthesized by the baby itself will increase. Neonatal pneumonia requires anti-infection treatment.

Newborn infections are usually caused by contact with patients with colds. Some cases are caused by inhalation of amniotic fluid or choking during feeding. Anti-infection treatment is required. If the condition is not serious, oral cefaclor can be used temporarily. If the condition is serious, intravenous treatment is required. It is recommended to take your baby to the hospital for examination as soon as possible to rule out neonatal pneumonia. If there is inflammation, treat it as soon as possible to avoid worsening.

The above is a brief introduction to what is going on with nodding breathing in newborns. Now you know it, right? Newborns need to be well cared for by their parents, because they are relatively fragile and any slight impact may be magnified infinitely, so timely treatment is required. Parents should also pay attention to their children's situation at all times to ensure their healthy growth.
