How to treat hernia in children?

Many parents may feel unfamiliar with the term "children's hernia". In fact, the occurrence of children's hernia is mainly due to the increase of intra-abdominal pressure, so lowering the intra-abdominal pressure can better prevent its occurrence. For example, try to avoid children from frequent and severe coughing, strenuous exercise, constipation, etc. If parents do not understand this disease, serious consequences may occur. Therefore, it is necessary to master the relevant knowledge.

Hernias can occur days, months, or years after birth.

Currently, surgery is the best treatment for hernia. Does that mean that children should undergo surgery as early as possible? Data shows that the best treatment period for pediatric hernia is between 4 and 6 years old. Children who are too young are not suitable for surgery. Since children are in the period of growth and development, the surgery is different from adult surgery which is mainly for repair. Children have to wait until at least 14 years old to undergo repair surgery. The best time for children to have surgery is 4-6 years old. Before this, drugs or other auxiliary means are generally used to control the disease. Especially for children under one year old, surgery is not recommended. Children can undergo regular checkups until they reach the age for surgery. Moreover, the children are too young. Some children may recover on their own with proper care. The probability that hernia in children will improve naturally is about 5%. The current treatment method for pediatric hernia is mainly high ligation.

In fact, hernia surgery always has the possibility of recurrence. Someone responded that since the implementation of tension-free repair, the recurrence rate of adult hernia has dropped to below 1%, and the recurrence rate of high ligation of the hernia sac in children is also below 1%. This is generally caused by unsuccessful surgery or other reasons. High ligation can completely cure children's hernia.

When it comes to treating hernia in children, there are many misunderstandings among parents because they do not understand the disease. Many parents think that it is just a common disease and that it will heal itself after a period of time, thus delaying the treatment of their children. Some people also believe in folk remedies, but in fact, these are all wrong and we should handle them correctly.
