Child speaks late

Child speaks late

After a child is born, his or her parents are present at every moment of his or her growth, such as the first time he or she turns over, the first time he or she walks, the first time he or she speaks, etc. These countless first times are recorded by the parents as little achievements of the child. Some parents find that their children start speaking late compared to children of the same age. Why is this? Below are some reasons why children speak late, you can learn about them.

1. How old is the latest age for a normal child to speak?

Children's language development follows certain rules. Generally speaking, the first sound a baby makes is crying, and he or she can communicate with people by babbling three to four months after birth. At 6 to 7 months old, the child will unconsciously call dad and mom; at one year old, the first batch of understandable language begins to appear, such as simple words like Deng Deng and Tang Tang; at two years old, he can say about 300 to 400 words and some simple phrases, such as eating, going to work, etc. Of course, each child's language development has individual differences, some are early and some are late, but if a child cannot speak or has no communicative language by the age of two, he must be taken to the hospital.

2. Reasons why children speak late

1. Rule out whether the baby has hearing impairment. Because the baby cannot hear the sounds around him, he does not have the physiological conditions to learn pronunciation, and it is impossible for him to understand the meaning of specific sounds and communicate with language. If the baby's hearing abnormality is discovered too late, it will have a serious impact on the development of the baby's intelligence and emotional abilities.

2. The impact of environmental factors on children's language development. According to relevant reports, in Western society, children raised in charitable institutions have later language development than children from ordinary families, and they also start learning to speak and compose sentences later.

3. Parents’ educational methods: Some parents constantly criticize their children’s way of speaking or intonation, imitate and ridicule their children’s incorrect pronunciation, or rarely talk to their children. This will affect children’s enthusiasm for speaking and is not conducive to language development.

If parents find that their baby is still unable to speak at around two years old, they should take the baby to a regular hospital for a hearing check to rule out whether the baby has a hearing problem. If the baby has no hearing problems, parents should spend more time with the child, communicate more with the child, and guide the baby to speak, but don't be too anxious, and give correct guidance slowly.
