How to judge the amount of milk a seven-month-old baby drinks

After the baby is born, what parents are most concerned about is whether the amount of milk is enough and whether the baby is full. It is difficult to judge for breastfed babies, but there is a standard for the amount of milk for formula-fed babies. This is based on the size of the baby, feeding time, etc. Therefore, the standard amount of milk for a seven-month-old baby is very clear. So how do you judge the standard amount of milk for a seven-month-old baby? Let's take a look.

The amount of milk for babies at this stage is about 600-800 ml. When the baby reaches 7-9 months, in addition to feeding with breast milk or cow's milk and other milk substitutes, you can give the child some soft noodles, porridge made from whole grains, or some toasted steamed bread slices and biscuits to promote tooth growth and exercise chewing ability. At the same time, you should also pay attention to supplementing iron-rich foods. Therefore, it is unscientific to reduce complementary foods as a way to increase milk intake, as it is not conducive to the growth and development of children.

How to judge the standard of milk intake for a seven-month-old baby? In fact, the method is very simple. You can refer to the following:

First, look at the number of times the baby pees

If a baby relies solely on breastfeeding and urinates more than 6 times in 24 hours, it is a sign that the milk supply is sufficient and the baby is full. If the baby urinates less than 5 times in 24 hours, it means that the milk supply is insufficient and the baby is not full.

Second, look at the shape of the baby's poop

The stool of a breastfed baby is in the form of buttery soft stool, and they have 2-4 bowel movements a day, which indicates that the milk supply is sufficient and the baby is full. If a breastfed baby has small stools that are green and foamy, this means the mother's milk supply is insufficient and the baby is not full.

Third, look at the baby's weight

Changes in a baby's weight often indicate whether the baby is full or hungry. Babies older than 6 months gain an average of 500 grams of weight per month. If the baby's weight gain does not meet the above standards and the difference is large, after excluding diseases, it mostly means that the milk supply is insufficient and the baby is not full.

It is impossible to judge the amount of milk a seven-month-old baby drinks during breastfeeding, but you can judge based on the number and duration of the baby's feeding. The feeding time during breastfeeding generally does not exceed 20 minutes. If the baby feeds for more than 20 minutes, you should consider that the milk supply is insufficient. You can add complementary foods or formula milk according to the baby's appetite to prevent the baby from not eating enough and causing malnutrition.
