What should I do if my baby has a blocked nose when sleeping?

Today I will talk to mothers about one of the most worrying issues: what to do if your nose is blocked? Because many children have poor physical fitness and poor immunity, they are prone to catching a cold or having nasal congestion when the temperature drops or there is a large temperature difference. This problem is also a major issue that bothers mothers.

Children with colds should be sent to the hospital immediately if they have the following symptoms

1. High fever above 39.5℃.

2. The child is unable to drink water and has convulsions.

3. The child is in poor spirits, drowsy or difficult to wake up.

4. The child has laryngeal wheezing when calm.

5. If your breathing speeds up after a cold, it may be mild pneumonia. (Children under 2 months old should breathe ≥60 times per minute, children between 2 months and 1 year old should breathe ≥50 times per minute, and children between 1 and 4 years old should breathe ≥40 times per minute.)

6. Increased breathing and chest retraction (chest retraction refers to the depression of the lower part of the chest wall when the child inhales. This is due to the poor elasticity of the lung tissue and the difficulty in inhaling. If only the soft tissue between the ribs or above the clavicle collapses during inhalation, it is not chest retraction). Children with this symptom have already developed obvious breathing difficulties and may have severe pneumonia.

If the child only has coughing, vomiting, diarrhea, and a fever not exceeding 39.5℃, and the child is in good spirits and his breathing is not significantly faster, parents can use diet therapy and massage to help the child relieve the symptoms of a cold.

After this article’s detailed analysis of pediatric colds and their treatment measures, mothers should be able to help their children relieve pain in a timely manner, right? Once the cold is cured, the babies’ noses will be unblocked. The healthy growth of our baby is very important to us. Mothers should start paying attention to their children's physical health from now on!
