What causes abdominal pain and diarrhea in children?

Many parents seem at a loss when faced with some physical conditions of their children. Children have relatively weak resistance and are more susceptible to bacterial infections than adults. Once children have conditions such as abdominal pain and diarrhea, parents do not have to panic, but find the right method and seek medical treatment in time. Here the editor shares with you some of the methods I have collected to deal with children's abdominal pain and diarrhea.

The stool of a breastfed baby is usually golden yellow, with a thin or soft texture, like the color and shape of a buttermilk puff, and tastes slightly sour or lactic. Sometimes there are some white particles mixed in the stool, which is normal. During the first few weeks of life, bowel movements may vary from once after each meal to several times a day or once every few days. Some babies have to defecate after every meal, but it is not because of diarrhea, but because their stomach is full of milk, which causes intestinal peristalsis and the urge to defecate. This is called gastrointestinal reflex defecation, which is a normal physiological phenomenon.

On the other hand, breast milk is easily digested and absorbed, leaving no residue and thus less likely to form stool. As long as your baby has normal bowel movements without difficulty and is gaining weight normally, the frequency of bowel movements is not important. It usually takes two or three months for the frequency of bowel movements to gradually become fixed.

The stool of formula-fed babies is usually soft and paste-like or in strips, and the color of the stool is yellow, yellow-brown or dark green. Because of protein decomposition, the odor is unpleasant, and the white particles in the stool are larger, and the frequency ranges from 2 to 3 times a day. However, some babies' gastrointestinal motility responds to diet to varying degrees, so the frequency of bowel movements can vary greatly. As long as the shape of the stool is not watery or dry and hard, it is normal. Generally speaking, every baby's bowel movements are different. As long as the baby's diet and daily life are normal and his growth and development are good, parents do not need to worry too much about the frequency, shape and color of the baby's bowel movements.

I hope the above suggestions can be helpful to parents. The editor believes that the most fundamental way to deal with children's abdominal pain and diarrhea is to solve the problem of children's food safety and to ensure children's food hygiene. At the same time, you should also pay attention to keeping warm to avoid abdominal pain and diarrhea caused by cold. I hope all the children can grow up healthily.
