Is it normal for a baby to nod and breathe?

Newborns have very weak constitutions and are prone to many neonatal diseases. For example, neonatal pneumonia is very common. Once a newborn has inflammation, there will be many physical manifestations. Some newborns will show nodding breathing. So is this nodding breathing a pathological condition? Do I need to see a doctor? Is it caused by other diseases?

The reasons for nodding breathing in newborns are generally neonatal wet lung (inhalation of water), neonatal respiratory distress syndrome due to insufficient active synthesis on the lung surface causing the lung to not inflate (more common in premature infants); and neonatal pneumonia. If you have wet lungs, just nourish the water and let it absorb slowly. Neonatal respiratory distress syndrome can be treated by supplementing exogenous pulmonary surfactant; as the baby grows older, the amount synthesized by the baby itself will increase. Neonatal pneumonia requires anti-infection treatment.

If you have heart disease, you should also pay attention, because some babies with congenital heart disease may show nodding movements. If your child often nods, it is recommended to take him to the hospital for a check-up and listen to his heart to see if there is any murmur. If so, it is recommended to do a cardiac ultrasound. Since it is impossible to meet with the patient in person for examination, it is recommended that the patient first be diagnosed in a regular hospital and then receive treatment under the guidance of a clinician. It is strictly forbidden to take medication on your own to avoid delaying the disease.

The reasons for the baby's nodding breathing are briefly introduced. If you find that your baby's breathing is not right or there are some difficulties, you need to pay attention to it. Especially if the baby's nodding breathing is severe, it may be life-threatening. You should go to the hospital for a detailed examination as soon as possible.
