Treatment of childhood brain tumors

Treatment of childhood brain tumors

Today's medicine is very advanced and can cure various diseases. At the same time, there are too many diseases now, and they are always challenging the limits of medical personnel. For example, there are many cancers and tumors now. It can be said that these diseases are too terrible. They don't even spare children. So can children's brain tumors be cured? Is there any good way?

Brain tumor is the most common tumor in children, and its incidence is second only to leukemia among malignant diseases. People of all ages can be affected, but the peak age for onset is 5 to 8 years old. Multiple factors affect the occurrence of brain tumors. The onset of some brain tumors may be related to the deletion or mutation of specific genes. For example, all gliomas have specific gene deletions on chromosome 17p, and well-differentiated gliomas also have gene loss on chromosome 9p. For example, meningioma is associated with chromosome 10, and medulloblastoma is associated with partial deletion of chromosome 17p.

The main treatment for intracranial tumors in children is surgical resection.

1. Surgical treatment

Treatment principles include:

(1) Resection of the tumor as completely as possible

(2) For those who cannot have a complete tumor resection, the tumor should be removed as much as possible to relieve the pressure on important intracranial structures, including restoring normal intracranial circulation and alleviating intracranial hypertension, while creating conditions for later radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

(3) Perform pathological diagnosis on the resected tumor.

2. Radiation therapy

Routine adjuvant treatment after surgery. It is mainly used for patients who cannot undergo complete resection or for patients who relapse after surgery.

3. Chemotherapy

In principle, it is used after surgery for malignant tumors, in conjunction with radiotherapy. It is also used to treat patients with recurrent malignant tumors.

Diet therapy:

① 20 grams of Acorus calamus, 3-5 pig's trotters, 50 grams of shiitake mushrooms, simmer on low heat for 40 minutes, eat the meat and drink the soup.

② Epimedium and yam noodles: 100 grams of thin noodles, 20 grams of yam, 15 grams of longan meat, and 15 grams of epimedium. Preparation method: Boil epimedium with water and remove the residue for later use. Peel the yam, cut it into sections, add water and boil until the yam is cooked and the soup is dry, then mash it into a paste. Boil the longan flesh in water, pour in the epimedium juice, add soy sauce, wine and other seasonings, then pour in the yam paste and boil it to make soup. Finally, cook the thin noodles in the soup and then mix with the soup for serving.

Children's brain tumors are also very painful. During the treatment process, the pain is unimaginable for normal people like us. So I hope everyone can care about the children around them and pay attention to vulnerable groups. Within our ability, we should try our best to help them, reduce their pain, and let them feel the warmth of the world and the kindness of people's hearts.
